Finally got my motor half bridge ported

I finally got it running last night and been putting some miles (like 40-50miles) for breaking it in.. I boosted to about 24psi today and seem to pull harder than when I was running at 26psi. I did add about 7% more fuel than my original map to keep it safe. It didn't spool the turbo much faster than what I thought it would (probably because I was being very conservative with the porting and didn't port the rotor housing to match the bridge port). The motor sounded awesome. Nothing more meaner than a bridge ported motor. bdp bdp bdp...... My question is, since I have not really been playing with bridge port before, what a/f ratio should I be running?? I think running it around 11.6-11.8 is probably good and safe since I normally run around 12.2-12.3 a/f with the street port. I figured that with the amount of overlap, the a/f analyzer will show richer a/f ratio than what I'm used to since it dumps fuels striaght to the exhaust for a short duration. Any recommendation? I still haven't spray n2o on my motor yet until I know the a/f is safe with what I have first. Hopefully I can get it ready for the NHRA event this weekend w/o blowing it up! LOL

I made some n2o pull on the street last night. The car feels good. The A/F ratio was way too rich though with n2o (10.4-10.5 a/f???) I think part of it was because my pressure was low (900psi) and the other part of it was because of the b-port. Either way, it took 4 secs to pull from 5500rpm to 7300rpm in 4th gear. Based on the datalog, I'm pretty close to where I was before since I have pulled 3.5 secs before on one of my log at the strip from the rpm listed above.

We'll see how it goes at the track. I might have to lean it out a little at the track if my mph is too low... LOL

I don't have pics of my b-port. It's very ghetto anyways since the damn grinder keep catching on me and in certain area, it's bigger than what I wanted....

I did retard my timing by 2 degrees just for safety. Once I play around long enough, I'll advance it more later....

My diff casing broke in half at the launch.... I was getting too sticky on those drag radials and I guess after running it hard for 2.5 yrs at the track, it couldn't handle anymore abuses...

The Kazz is fine....it's the casing that broke along with the 4.30 gears since when the case crack in half, the stripped a teeth on the ring. I don't think Kazz would pay for the diff casing since they only sell diff and not the entire assembly.

You should be proud of yourself for busting the crap out of your differential case.
Maybe Dragon would chime in. I know he broke his (and broke his final gear too). I think he beefed it up a lot so it would hold (but whats next to break?).

Here is Dragon's original "i busted my diff case" thread
https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...highlight=diff

And pictures

Here is a thread about a stronger PPF and someone who made a brace to replace the PPF and might reinforce the diff casing.

Hmm, I thought there was more, but I guess not. Good luck with keeping your next diff case together

It's about a 14% lower gear ratio than the stock 4.1 and I run my car out to 9000 rpm.. AND since we only have a gay 150meter drag race over here I'll be able to run some of 3rd gear in it.. I was hitting 9000rpm in second about 35 meters from the finish before. so by the time you got into 3rd you just had time to blip the throttle.. Hopfully my 315/35/17" Nittos should be here soon and I'll be able to get it to hook a little better or break an axel in the process...

150M????? damn?? what kinda drag strip is that?? I shift to 4th gear before the 1/8 mile (200M) with the 4.10....why are you barely in 3rd gear??? That doesn't make sense???

What do you normally run in 100M (330ft)....I run anywhere from 3.90s - 4.10s...

The 60ft times suck there at around 2.2 with 275 Nitto's. It's basicly a big parking lot and I get better bite on the street. 1st gear is pretty much all wheel spin.. The point where you shift in to 2nd gear is a water run off from the mountain next to the track that they clean poorly so there is a lot of dust giving you a little wheel spin in to 2nd gear.. My 100 meter times are usually around 5.2 ish, 150 meter times are around 6.5-6.6 with 275 nitto's.. I usually just run it out in second to 10,000 rpm rather than trying to shift to 3rd, but I would be shifting to 3rd at around 125 meters or so going in to 4th at around 200 meters would be about right.. I also tried running a 3.9 final gear so I could try to stay in the power band threw 2nd a little longer and ran about .1 seconds slower. Now I'm going to see what the 4.7 will do with a little wider tire..
