different dyno's?

what are the difference in dyno figures on various dyno's....lets say 400rwhp on a dyno dynamics....would equate to how much on a winpep or dyno jet?.....and are there any others you guys use?

Personally I hate playing this whole dyno to dyno correction game but it is common knowledge that every dyno is going to vary and some read less than others. Dyno Dynamics are about as stingy as they get. The common adjustment to a DD dyno is +13% to come close to what you would make on a Dynojet.

If you want a real comparison go race at Santa Pod and post your trap speeds. Besides weight and climate variances trap speeds are an apples to apples comparison of wheel HP.

That % can be alot higher than that. We have a local Dyno Dynamics Dyno (AWD DYNO) that reads 20% lower, and that's being conservative.

so why do we all quote these figures seem silly if my 400atw could potentially amount to 470 on another dyno...I think your right trevor...trap speeds are the way to go!!!!

Another problem is that depending on the type of dyno, it will measure HP differently. For example a Mustang Dynamometer measures with eddy current, while a Dynojet Dynamometer measures inertia. Both are accurate, BUT they will show different readings from one dyno type measurement to the next because of this.

if that is the case....dyno numbers essentially mean nothing... unless you are modifying/tuning your car and you use the dyno to measure changes in the cars behaviour.

This is exactly true. This is what a dyno should be used for not predicting et's.
And dyno dynamic dynos read 13% lower then a dynojet not 20%. And they are by far the most accurate dynos you will ever use as far as sensitivity and repeatability. The numbers don't mean **** unless your an internet racer and love posting graphs. The real test is how the car will perform on the track/dragstrip/street.

Our local Dyno Dynamics dyno has been tested numerous times....... 20% lower than dynojet.......

that same belville dyno, said i had 355 rwhp, the owner of the dyno told us to add 20% to that figure which was 426 rwhp. a week later i dynoed on a dynojet at 418 same boost and close to same temps, hot as ****. so it was reading around 17.5 % low with myt car. so it is possible, in bellville

Dude, you're plugs were fouled out on the dynojet. You would have passed up that %20 mark if you had new plugs in.

the Dynodynamics dyno at the local speed shop names CP racing tells us that they have factored in the correction to show the same numbers you would get from a dynojet.

I was talking about this and how it seems weird with a buddy just about 2 hours ago.

He talked to the guy that works there on AIM and he said yes they do correct it. The honda boys were getting all sad on dynonight before they started doing the correction.

Im still confised about it.... is this even possible?

My SP RX7 (with stock FD motor and twins in sequential) did 318rwhp on 0.9kg/cm boost pressure on a dyno dynamics machine here in Australia on saturday running semi slick Dunlop tires that used up a bit of power too.

My engine power at my best calcualtion on slightly higher boost pressure (1.05kg/cm) is close to dead on 400BHP on road as car runs leaner *correct tune on track v's artifical dyno room set up* (read too hot and no pressurized ram air on carbon air box for turbo chargers). Makes up to 1.0 AFR point richer on dyno.

For what its worth ;-)
