Question custom downpipe

i upgraded to a greddy cast manifold and an HKS T04R turbo on my s4 TII and now i need to extend my Racing beat downpipe..does anyone have any tips on how to go about doing this? it kinda has to make a slight angle its not just a straight peice of pipe that needs to be added and it looks like it may be a bit tricky..any tips would be great to have..thanks ahead of time...

Tips? Get another used Racing Beat downpipe and use it with conjunction with your current one to make a downpipe. The piping will match diameters and there will be enough tubing and bends to make it work. DO yourself a HUGE favor and find someone who can TIG weld rather then Joe Bob at the muffler shop with his mild steel wire feed MIG welder. Thank me later when its done

or go to a good exhaust shop and they can make you one. i just had a complete turbo back exhaust made on my car this weekend and he tig welded it. it all depends on where you go.

Muffler shops RARELY have stainless on hand. They also WONT have stainless flanges and having the correct flang for the RB system isn't going to be just laying around. Also, the older RB system was THICK walled mild steel in a metric size (80mm) and your NOT going to find that at the muffler shop either. The new RB stuff although is just standard 3" stainless. Just buy a used DP and use it for material, there a dime a dozen on these forums. the mating peices will line and match right up because there the same exact tubing.

13bturbofc, I dont really have anything to add, except that you and me are pretty much building the same car (same parts) at the same time. And your asking all the questions i was wondering about lately for me. Thanks

Heres my downpipe. Made by some local guy. I think he did a good job.

Like I said, i dont really have anything to add. Just wanted to let you know you werent alone.

The downpipe cost me 300 bucks total. And yes, its a HKS TO4R. That 4 bolt flange was on there when i bought it. I bought it used for $300, but it was blown so its on its way to Majestic turbo right now. I see your lower rad. hose touches the compressor just like mine does. I was worried about it, but you did the same thing i did and just wrapped it. My engine is not as bling-tastic as yours though.

And i know the car is a little dirty, but i rescued it on its way to the junkyard for $400.

y did you "y" the return? You could have just ran the dual returns for each rail into the side of the FPR then out the bottom..Kinda confused by that..I would tihnk you would hav better fuel pressure stability in both rails if both returns went into the fpr...

just my .02$
