Question Apexi 3Bar Map sensor

Hey all,

Asked this in a thread but was off topic there.... no responses....

Can anyone shed some light on the Apexi 3 Bar Map sensor??? I have been pointed that it might be better off then the GM unit. Is it the same sensor that the AVCR Boost Controller uses to read MAP? The small round plastic tot with the brass nipple facing downward?

Would you suggest to wire this in to read MAP or no?

Thanks all

Best,

George

I have this map sensor on my fd. It requires no splicing of anything. Truly plug and play. Just go into FC-Edit and use PIM scale offset option 1.

hmmmm you mean you don't use a GM unit?

I run a wolf Plug N Play... I have the option as all ecus to select the external mat sensor. is the Apexi 1 good to go? If i splice that one in is it OK to use as a map sensor? Would you recommend it as much as the GM???

i have no specs of the Apexi map sensor and have no idea who uses it... what is the boost threshold on it? is it 3 bar effectively? when does it stop creating voltage??

Thanks for your time

I have the same sensor.. but not installed yet.
Apexi 420-A004
449-X002
it is the same sensor as with the ACV-R boost controller

From the Apexi list it is a 2.5 BAR sensor

....ok so if i test it.... i should get a voltage output right?

if i apply gradual pressure all the way up to three bar i should get a linear voltage scale.... makes sense? see where it stops that is at 4.5 volts and see what's the pressure.

right?

Guys, I don't understand... why not just get the GM sensor with the plug and splice 3 freakin' wires.

It's available everywhere, been around for years and proven/used by hundreds of people. Just my 2 cents.

Here's one for under $65 with plug...

I have one sitting here..... ready to install, but if the apexi is better then i would go with that.....

I ask mainly to check if the avcr is limited to 2.5 bar boost.... see what i mean???

that mean no 28 psi pulls......or your boost will go hayyyyywire.....boom

thats why i need to know now

Thanks for the link but. it cheaper then i found around ...

Dude, I'm not questioning WHY you want to know... I'm just trying to say that it seems like most folks here don't use the Apexi map sensor and I personally wouldn't even bother with something that I'm getting a hard time getting info on when a proven one (GM) I KNOW works 100% with many folks at 28psi... Besides, how much better can a sensor be.

Just trying to help.

The GM sensor is compatible with the PowerFC. There are a lot of threads on here about how to wire it and what PFC settings to use.

Or you just get one of our GM 3 bar plug and play adapters and don't have to cut your engine harness.
