Both leading plugs fire at the same time, every time, hence only 1 leading coil. When one plug is firing for power the other is also firing but not doing ****.

400 hp jump in a top heavy 2000 rpm band from 5-7k

not exactly "user friendly" powerband!

sounds like a great way to kill yourself, how can you possibly hook up? the thing must wheelspin like crazy even at 80 mph

all for the "glory" of an occasional freeway run (assuming the cops arent around)....isn't pride the ultimate definition of human carnal nature?

This turbo is capable of a lot more at 30psi. I think the full exhaust, the UIM, and the street bort are the things that limit the turbo right now.

With a half bridge port, custom plenum, and 4" downpipe/5" catback, this FD will be REALLY scary

Why have an exhaust at all?

What are you talking about???
You don't "feel" horsepower.
You FEEL torque.

Its SO HARD to be faithful to my FD and keep it near std, doing only mild bolt on's when you see something like that !

Exceptional work mate love it.

I've seen the car in action. It has almost ZERO Wheelspin.

I was discussing this with Cris last nite, and he think it might be pretty
good for the 1/4 mile after all because you don't have to worry about traction.

must be nice to have disposable income! another rebuild in, what, a month or two, at 30 psi?

don't be a hater, but I have to believe Jim's route to 600 hp will be far more reliable and easier to use on the street, these peaky little powerbands are good for the strip and highway runs, although there are fewer and fewer places where you can get away with such illegal activity....highways around here now have cameras

anyway, interesting rotary experiment and nice work, I guess you can put up huge numbers with just about any engine these days when you crank the boost to the moon and have the surplus cash to fix it when it breaks

Peaky little powerband? If you want to see a peaky power bank look at a lot of V8 dynos. This thing is making AWESOME level hp for 2000rpms!!! Thats not peaky.

Hey Cris....put some kind of contact info in your sig man so people can contact you for tuning and such. Maybe an email address or something

You'll be surprised, how long an engine can last, if built and tuned properly.

Chalk another up for Precision turbo. The numbers that have been made on these turbo's in the last year are walking all over the comp. Now another new platform for them to stand on.

I assume by "feel" you guys are talking about G-forces. Anyone who has taken a high school physics class can tell you that, while torque does have a lot to do with power, torque is not the reason that riding in this guys car would be a better workout than 6-minute abs. Power, as I'm sure most educated people know, is a function of torque (or work) available over a given period of time. Yes, you are feeling torque when you experience G forces, but it is that torque output over a given period of time (aka power) that allows for acceleration. I'm not trying to bash you or anything, cause I know that you are far more knowledgeable than I am regarding RX-7's or perhaps cars in general, I just think that a lot of people (car people in general, not pointing the finger at anyone) would benefit heavily from taking a basic physics course at a community college or something. Although... if you are talking about putting the car on jackstands and trying to hold the wheel still with your arms while someone mashes on the gas... in that case you are fighting to overcome torque.

I remember my high school physics teacher (this was at an all male military school) teaching us about "torque". He said, "You know when sometimes you wake up in the morning and you got one pointing straight up to the sky? And you gotta go really bad, so you point it down towards the toilet..." and were all like "yeah, uh huh" and he says "and your heels lift way up off the floor..." and were like "yeah, yeah" and he says "THAT'S TORQUE, BABY, that's torque!"

Ure just a hater... I still dont know why it took 30psi to make 600, but it is still 600hp. Its a street port motor, which means it still retains driveability and it has no problem running below 20psi... hes a 480 at 19psi IIRC... that right there is enough from day to day. And whne a big race comes, he can just up the boost to 30. People do this **** all the time, I dont know why you expect that he will run 30psi every moment he drives the car...

so i guess he will keep a jug of race fuel in the car or something?

480 is beast on the street... but even 19psi on pump is pusing it to many people in the know.

Not really, you could run 19 on pump but the car would probably be pig rich with very little timing. and would prob make the same power as 15psi with a better tune.

600hp would be no match for these 1000 1200 1500hp supras on the hwy.

you would need a turbo PP on meth to run against those things on the hwy..

rotories dont make a lot of torque so they never really have traction problems with a decent set of tires. I know my car with 450hp and BFG radicals would barely churp. FD is a great drag car I think... dosnt really have the power to run on the hwy yet...

whats with all these hwy races anyway... thats not a race.. race from a stop. I cant stand when these 500hp civics call me out to race in 3rd gear at 80mph..who does that..

ALLLL dyno graphs move at about a 45 degree angle to peak then they level off. 4000 and 5000rpms isnt anything to a engine that redlines at close to 9000. Comparing hp at 4500 on this car is like looking at the hp at 1500rpms on a V8....its 4500rpms away from redline. This car has a lotttt more rpm range to play with. Just makes it easy to drive on the street or in the rain because you dont have to worry about barly touching the gas and spinning all over the place with 700lbs of tq off idle...which is what it would have it this was a na v8
