I've always heard them refered to as inducer and exducer. If you look at a compressor wheel its smaller in the front than the back. In the front is the part of the wheel you can see in the hole of the compressor housing, its called the inducer cause thats where the air in pulled in to the wheel. Then down at the base of the wheel is called the exducer cause thats where the air exits the wheel. You cant see the exducer side of the compressor wheel with the compressor housing on.

I was wondering if that 88mm number was on the inducer side or the exducer side. If its an 88mm inducer that is much larger than a T-78 wheel and I'd think it would be much more laggy.

the GT40 88 mm wheel is 2.547 inducer and 3.465 (88 mm) exducer. the T78 is 2.598 inducer and 3.543 (90 mm) exducer

So this being the case, why is this an "upgraded wheel"??? The GT40 wheel seems to be slightly smaller

GT wheels are more efficient than there predecessors. less heat therefore more oxygen molecules to light on fire per compressed volume at X pressure. smaller can in some instances be better as in this case. for instance the gt35 wheel measures 2.01X2.8 and flows 44 lbs/minute. the to4e 46 trim wheel measures 2.003X2.95 and flows 41 lbs minute.

Exactly, newer more efficient design. Bigger doesn't always mean better!

If I was to do things again it would be duel nippondenso pumps or walbro. The aeromotive pump is to loud for me.
