LOL
I read that issue of modified too...i got a good laugh out of the 586rwhp @ 19psi on the t78.
Funniest thing is, it even says "most rotary guys know this is not possible..."

Astro, you're alive!!

If you think that's funny, grab a copy of Performance Auto and Sound with the riced out yellow FD on the cover.

"The owner estimates 450 rwhp" with a TD06. You bet buddy!!

I had majesticturbo do the upgrade. They used a larger wheel.
I will check tomorrow to see if the intercooler shipped.

Nice job. Got some room to grow.

What were the un-corrected-into-dynojet Mustang numbers/chart?

Same setup as Michel's / "rx7tt95". Garrett GT40 88mm compressor wheel.

It must be my manifold...you really like your boost response Jason? You're making over 100hp by 3k rpm which is one of my "benchmarks". I have not been happy with the boost response of the turbo but I do not have a fully divided manifold. Instead of spending $$$ on a new turbo I guess I should spend $$$ on a new, fully divided manifold :-) Problem is, GReddy doesn't sell their T78 manifold seperately! Maybe someone from JT Imports can find a manifold in Japn for me....Jason, send me your map! Oh, hit 99% duty cycle the other night at 1.1kg. Too bad I'm not seeing that boost level until 6K. Glad it's working for you.

I have always been impressed with T-78 hp number.. Jason, if you could do it again, would you still choose T-78 over any other turbo kit like TO4R, GT35/40... or any other? I am contemplating of going single and ditch the BNR 3, I want topend with good boost respond. I want to step on the gas around 3.5k rpm and pull hard all the way to redline, instant torque respond. Thx.

I like the top end on the T-78. The lag does not bother me since its mainly a highway car and I just have to be in the right gear. I found the turbo spools faster after I removed the A/C and Power Steering pumps. Maybe its me but it seems like it made a difference.
My opinion is the T04R and GT35/40 fizzle out on the top end, although they spool nice.

Thanks for your opinion. What exactly did majestic turbo do to upgrade your T-78? Can give out your secret and how much?

I would dump the walbro or add another walbro pump

There is no boost response for a T78 it's laggy period, 35/40's are responsive they are great street/strip turbo's drive it around at 16-17p on the street then hit the track with some good fuel and run 25+p. I think you should just get a 40R and a divided manifold you can't complain then I think I may even know where to get one.

LOL, I hear ya...Just the thought of spending ANOTHER $4K for ANOTHER single turbo system doesn't make me happy. It appears Jason is making more boost than I am earlier in the rpm range. The only difference between our setups is that he has a fully divided manifold and I don't. Then again, I can't say my port work can hold up vs. Pineapple. Perhaps the larger Cosmo ports don't help spool either....I'm estimating that I get about 3kg at 3Krpm, 5kg by 4 and then full boost by 5Krpm, sometimes 5500rpm. One thing that surprisingly made a difference was switching from the standard Type R wastegate spring to the 1.1kg spring. Not a HUGE diff, but noticeable.

Specs on the Majestic Turbo upgrade...it's a Garrett GT40 88mm wheel afik. It's definitely a ballistic. Cost for the wheel itself is about $250 and throw in a rebuild while they're at it. They high speed balance everything and have to machine out the compressor housing quite a bit. Quality job though and there was absolutely no slop in the wheel itself. Tight and built right. I believe total cost on mine was about $650 which included shipping but I also had my turbine repaired for $125 and had a complete, full, rebuild done. You can probably get everything done for about $400. www.majesticturbo.com

Zero, send me a PM with an estimated price. Just need to weigh my options. One of the reasons I want to just acquire a manifold is that I don't want to have to re-engineer the turbo to intercooler connection and all the other misc. stuff to get it just right :-) Looks like I'll be able to acquire a manifold from Japan for less than $800 too.

I have always said lag is overrated. If I need boost I drop down a gear and I get instant boost.
I have never been impressed with the GT35/40 dyno numbers.

I hate getting beat by grandma in her Grand Marquis until I can come up on 4K rpm and adequate boost levels. Like I said, I think you're hitting boost a bit sooner than I am.

Doesn't help to much when your in second gear and want to squirt through traffic.
