Is a 35r too big for a street ported motor.
Looking to pick up a 93 street ported rx7 with a aspec 35r kit. Is a 35r to big for a street port? Would it be too laggy? Ill get more info on the a/r of the turbo. But is a 35 generally speaking to big for a street port.

I have one on my car (GT3574R) and it is street ported.
Typically porting helped the turbo spool faster, not slower.

I had my 35r on a streetport 12a.. It is t4 hot side (Turblown stage V)and I still very quick spool times. I only ran off the gate spring. 7/8 psi.... Gate was fully open before 3 grand... in high gears around 2500 if memory serves me correctly... 13b street port will be even quicker!

"Is a 35r too big for a street port?"
welcome to rotary world.
since the rotary needs 30% more air than a piston engine to make similar power the math is different w re to turbos.
turbos for the rotary come in 3 relative sizes
small
medium
large.
small is GT35, BW S300 62 and the compressor area is approx 6.3 square inches average
medium is Garrett TO4Z, GT500, S363, PT67. compressor area 7 sq inches
large is GT4094r, GT4294, BW S366, BW S475 and compressor area is approx 8 sq inches
small is around 450/475 max
medium is around 550 max
large is 600+
obviously there are additional turbos and hp numbers can be plus or minus but it is a good way to start the fitting process.
the GT35 is an excellent turbo for many rotary app and A-Spec is a respected vendor.
good luck,
