Not that I've noticed but others who have the kit installed should chime in as well.

It would be the same difference as any other HID based installation, whether OEM or aftermarket since the cutoff is the same.

^Not quite true. If I am correct, these are ECE (Europe) standard HIDs, not the SAE/DOT ones used here in the US. The cutoff, therefore, is more pronounced. The upside - you'll blind less of the oncoming traffic. The downside is potentially what you describe. Regardless, these are way, way better than the stock units

On another note, here is the final info regarding ballast "buzz" straight from Hella:

"On the ballast topic. All ballasts will make a little bit of noise when running, but not much. Most of our ballasts are potted and insulated. Most Asian ballasts are not. If they are using a rebase kit, they are probably getting some RF interference as well as noise. You have to remember, some ballasts are designed to use inside a headlight, some are not. The ones you have are OE on Mercedes, BMW, VW, Audi, Volvo, and bus/trucks. They are also on 75% of the vehicles in the Baja Races too. Its big, but the most reliable ballast made by anyone.

The lights you used are the same off the shelf lights used on ALL of those cars. They are also on Ferrari, Saleen S7, and about every supercar on the planet.

Yup, like I said all basalts make noise. Our balasts are digital as well as potted and silicone weather proofed. Long story short, it's exactly what I described. Now can we PLEEEEASE move on and get back to the thread? I feel like I'm running in circles LOL

David our cutoff is DOT/SAE. Based on the information we have been given about DOT and ECE cutoffs.

Enough about cutoffs, back to the next GB

our projector cutoff....

True, they are definitely a great upgrade to stock units.

Don't worry about reading signs. What I've found with HIDs is that road signs end up *really* bright-- a lot brighter than conventional lights. To me it's so bright that to help preserve my night vision, I try not to take more than a quick glance at a sign.

If you live around, say Los Angeles, where the streets & freeways are largely lighted, it's not so much of an issue. I happen to live in an area with many country (i.e., unlit) roads, and lots of deer & other critters. In this kind of environment you have to work a bit harder to keep from washing out your night vision by looking directly at oncoming lights or road signs. That makes it easier to spot Bambi's family just off the edge of the road, coming out of the trees with that blissful please-turn-me-into-road-kill-now look in their eyes...

All that said, I hate driving with conventional lights now, and would not willingly go back. Can't wait to get this set on the FD.

After seeing these lights in person on scrubs and goodfellas car on the way down to Deals Gap I am absolutely sold on these lights. The light output is amazing and when I was in front of scrubs' car it does not blind you at all when you look in your mirrors all you see are 2 round orbs of light. Add me to the list. When you want payment please PM me so i can send the money right away incase i do not look at this thread often. thanks.

Thumbs up

I think we should combine the fb and fc interest list with this one and we would have enough people for the next GB
