Sorry guys. Before I knew it, it was 7:00pm and I was still greasy all the way to the elbows (when it is that bad, it usually takes a half-hour just to clean up!) with not much hope in making it out to Raleigh on time.

Looks like there were a few new owners. I would have like to have met the 1st gen owner, since I daily drove mine for a while (and of course, tore it apart) until I sold it to my friend who needed a car more than I did...

I would be happy to bring some tools and go over some basic tech issues at the RTP meeting June 4th.

Memorial Weekend Drive-In

It was a great time on Saturday. I want to thank everyone that came out for the meet. We had 6 7s, with representatives for each generation, as Tom said. We also had a Cobra Mustang, and some guys from the hpjunkies group who stopped in to visit. I enjoyed seeing the "new" cars belonging to Tom, Taylor, Zoom, and BlackSupra. Come to think of it Josh, Sam, and I were the only repeat attendees, everyone else was there for the first time. If Dave and Matt had been there we would have made the 8 car goal and could have had the prize drawing. Well, maybe in June.

I especially enjoyed the discussion with Josh's brother on how he could replace his Cobra's engine with a 20B and really get some major HP under the hood. I also enjoyed hearing about each of the cars and what everyone has gone thru to get their 7 where it is and what their plans are in the future.

Thanks to Tom and his white FB, BlackSupra's teal FD, and the white TII FC Zoom and his wife drove down from Va. we got some car colors, other than black, in the mix.

I passed out some info flyers I made up and printed on the PC and if we can use them to get work out to other 7 owners then we can continue to grow interest in our drive-ins.

I'll post the pictures I got when I get a little time on Monday or Tuesday.

Bert

The next drive-in will be on June 12, same time, same location. Be careful on Capital Blvd that late, the Raleigh Police are taking a lot of interest in street racing on Capital, just don't challenge a guy in a blue and white ford, with funny lights on top, to a race!

From the talk at the drive-in there should be several guys over next Friday night for the MSSCof NC meet.

Maybe if I get out of my car and ask for a footrace?

If I'm lucky, I may be coming to the next meet with a red T2. If not.. Perhaps the one after that. Is the location reasonably easy to get to?

The location is easy to find if you are somewhat familiar with Raleigh.
Here are the directions to the Char Grill on Strickland I posted back on 4/30. They should be good for any location since you'll be getting on 540 or 440 to get around Raleigh with the least hassle and traffic:

DIRECTIONS: If you are coming from Raleigh or 440: -You can come up Creedmoor Rd and hang a right at the Strickland Rd intersection (at this intersection you should see a Krogers in the shopping center on the left)
-Go up Strickland and the Char Grill will be on your right several miles up Strickland.

DIRECTIONS for Raleigh residents:
-If you come north, up Six Forks Rd from Raleigh take a left at the next traffic light after you pass the Kmart,
-Char Grill will be on the left a couple 100 yards down Strickland.

DIRECTIONS If you are coming from Durham/Chapel Hill and other locations to the west of Raleigh or 540:
-Exit I-40 at the 540 exit and go to the Six Forks exit.
-Go south, to the right, on Six Forks Rd to the Strickland Rd intersection, about a quarter mile, and turn right.
-Char Grill will be on your left a couple hundred yards west of intersection.

DIRECTIONS: if you are coming from eastern NC you can hit the 440 beltline around south Raleigh.
-Go North toward Wake Forest and exit 440 on the Six Forks exit.
-Go north on Six Forks several miles until you pass a Kmart on the left
-Turn left on Strickland Rd at the next traffic light.
-You'll find the Char Grill on the left a hundred yds or so on the left.

I'll look forward to meeting you on the 12th or 26th of June.

NCTII were you in the white one with the aftermarket wheels? If you saw the black FD around 10-11 it was me we headed up there to check out cars for one of my friends, Mike. He is actually seriously considering the Viper RT/10 up at Capital Toyota, Blah!(ok not really it is a very beatiful car)

I saw you guys cruisin, in a nice FC.

Also, just so you know the real "action" doesn't happen on Capital, anymore. It actually kinda moves around, but that this past saturday was out in Cary. Main reason is what Bert said the law has been cracking down on Capital Blvd.

It was great meeting everyone, that came this past saturday. I walked away wanting a 1G or 2G to restore/modify. Gotta remember to finish one project at a time.

I asked if it was reasonably easy to get there because I'm not familiar with Raleigh I've been there one time in the past 4 years heh heh. Just wondering if it's reasonably easy to get around in the area where Char Grill is.

Maxduo where are you coming from. It is relatively easy to find Chargrill. If you let me know where you are coming from I can give you more specific directions.

Asheboro. I can get to those directions fine, I-40 is very easy to reach from where I live. I just mean the destination. Like if it's a really crowded area and if it's easy to miss Char Grill. Stuff like that Being unfamiliar with the area around it.

Yeah we we're on capital about that time, we had to make a stop at the Olive Garden before we left.
I have to give props to the wife, she rides two hrs only to be the only girl there and listen to us talk about RX's and never complains. She also puts up with me having 3 RX's: hell she even wants me to get a FD but im holding out for a forth gen.

nah, i was in a red GXL. its bone stock, prolly stay that way considering its only got 88K on it and its mostly beautiful inside and out, except for the front bumper is kinda pooped. its a 3rd owner with an exceptional interior and spotless motor- cept for the notorious 3800 hesitation. you guys should really check out the meet going down in durham this weekend- friday night at the hwy 54-55 intersection. i think we're gonna roll out with the GXL cause none of my rides are in service

It'll be easy to find if you come up 40 and get off on 540. Just follow 540 around north Raleigh and get off at the Six Forks exit and head south on Six Forks and take a right at the second traffic light on to Strickland Rd. Within a couple hundred yards on Strickland you'll come to a traffic light make a left at the light into the shopping center. The Char Grill will be immediately to your right. Just look for all the seedy guys with beautiful cars. Hope you can make it. You won't have any trouble finding us.

I stand righteously corrected. jI don't know how I could've said teal, major bad on my part. I know what you mean with the FD owner- ask JMunilla about driving in the rain, incase you haven't heard already.

I have to give props to the wife, she rides two hrs only to be the only girl there and listen to us talk about RX's and never complains. She also puts up with me having 3 RX's: hell she even wants me to get a FD but im holding out for a forth gen.
By all means, your wife is a true inspiration to us all. Would she be willing to come down next time you are able to make it? I was thinking that those of us who are married could bring our wives and maybe she could give them all some encouragement and some pointers on how to support their husbands' needs. After all they're all probably going to out live us anyway and will get the cars in the end. I think fathers day would be a good occassion for this. Can I put her on the drive-in program. After all hadn't they rather that we fool around with our cars than some of the other alternatives?

You wouldn't happen to live around Danville, and have attended Triad autocrosses?
