After reading all the post, I don't feel bad about the work drama that caused me to work until 10:45 tonight. Sorry about Phil, I can only image the hard work he's put into this event. I would think the stress has been building for a while.
I'm not sure if I'll even be able to go in April, I've got vacation already scheduled around other events next year. If I do go it would be leaving after work on Friday and driving back Sunday. As far as lodging, it doesn't matter to me. I'll stay where-ever the raleighites choose. Again that's if I go.

I just want to repeat myself in saying that my ONLY intention today was to make sure we were communicating our plans to the rest of the event planners in a FAIR amount of time, because they were counting on us when it came to group rates.

Everything just came unglued since then. We all have become kinda overzealous about DGRR, since it's right around the corner! SO much to do, and SO LITTLE time!!

For those attending post dinner movie(s) this saturday, I will have Diet Dr Pepper for Sodas (I'll stop and pick up some other general soda types drink, let know if there is anything specific requests). I also have some snacks left from the last Movie night I had for a few co-workers. Feel free to bring anything specififc you would like to snack on.

Crazy like an Airman! Get away from Fayetteville for a while...make more money, tax-free at that...get the opportunity (albeit a very miniscule opportunity since I'm AF) to die for my country...it's a win win baby!!!

I hope you can make it to Deal's Gap again Gary, already sucks Nic and Keri won't be there.

the last thing i wanted to do was cause any problems within our group. quite the opposite, i felt that last year brought our group closer together(for the most part). that is why i was so adamant about staying at the mansion again. i had much more fun last year than i did the first.

for my part i am going regardless of whether there is an actual event or not. hopefully most other people will feel the same way.

I'm still going, dammit.

Looks like there still is an event... just one person isn't going to have to be in charge anymore.

In future years, we should just pick a date, and everyone go and plan on meeting up for dinner at one place on the Saturday... and that will be all the absolute plans. Otherwise, the smaller individual groups can do their own thing!

Anyway, why don't we just crash at my parents' place when we go to the dragon. They moved closer to the dragon, and it's free! But I can't make any solid plans yet because my wife may be getting deployed, we won't know till next month.... Either way I'll still be there.

Phil, I do see where you're coming from, and part of me agrees with Greg, that it might be kinda cool to hang out with people from other groups. It's not so much about what condition the rooms are in, I've never seen the place so I can only make assumptions from other's description of how it is. It's more about staying somewhere with close friends in more of a house-like setting, something more open than having to jump from room to room to hang out. I had alot of fun this year hanging out with RRDI at the mansion, and as I'm sure you can tell, I'm sick and tired of people telling me where I should stay. I can handle that at work, I knew what I was getting into when I signed the papers. But to attend something like this and choose to bow out if I want? If that makes me selfish then so be it. If you don't want to put these things together, DON'T. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. I'll go when I want and with close friends, and stay where the **** I want. Like I said, I appreciate you doing this, even if I don't attend ALL the events, but I don't like being called selfish just because I want to do my own thing sometimes. I think you did a good job last year (all I saw was the luncheon but I thought it was well planned), but I think you should spend more time working on your car or with your loved ones, honestly. You'll never get that time back, and for what, putting this stuff together for selfish people like myself? All I would do is let everyone know that we'll be going up there at such and such time and let everyone do their own thing from their on. If they want to be there, fine, if not, that's fine too. Just go with the flow ya know?
Jesus! You think you are the only one does things for this country?? I was part of DARPA trying to save soldier's lives. Don't give me this **** that just because you are in the military and saying your not selfish?? All I asked for is that people understand where I'm coming from and give little bit of a respect. I don't get paid for this and spent great deal amount of time organizing it.. So, help me run this event smoothly by doing things with the group.. That was all I was asking for??
Youre in the military, you should know that if people in the miliary didn't listen to their higher ranking officers it will turn into ****! Can you imagine what it would be like if soldiers did whatever the **** they wanted to do, go where ever they wanted to go, stay where ever they wanted to stay,... I would think you of all people should understand why I'm asking this... And yes, people should do whatever the **** they want to do.. You and Josh made me realize, I have more pressing **** that I need to take care of instead of trying run this event, when I know I have to stress out at the event so other people could have fun..

Like I said on the other thread, I need to worry more about my work and another event that I'm organizing in June next year in Vegas. I'll be taking 2 weeks off for that event and at this point, I don't even know if I could make it up to DGRR... hence I was looking for someone else to take charge earlier this year. I rather not stress out at work so I could squeeze in DGRR when people can't seem to understand I make sacrifices in my life to organize this..

I do however want to thank you and Josh for making me realize that I have more pressing stuff I need to take care of instead of worry about DGRR.. Christina and few others who took part in this years event could run this probably better than I.. I hope they will step up and get DGRR 2007 rolling.. I'll help out as much as I can...

Get over it Phil, you think I'd actual quit the military because of YOU? Please...I love what I do. That was simply sarcasm...I don't appreciate people telling me I'm selfish when it's in my code of conduct to lay my life down for my country. Good on you for serving with DARPA too (do they serve in combat btw?). And when did I say I'm the only one serving their country? I ALWAYS show love to all branches. I think I explained myself about my duty too...I do what I'm told in the military, and by NO means are you my superior officer or anything of the sort, so don't even try to liken yourself to that. In fact, I believe I stated that BECAUSE this is not a military function and I'm joining it for fun, I don't appreciate people telling me where to stay. And I ALSO think I explained that I DO see where you're coming from, so why are you still bent outta shape about this? I still don't see why there is any more preparation than simply telling people when you're going and if they want to join you, great. Let them find a place to stay, let them arrange where they want to eat and if they want to join others for dinner, etc. Phil, why are you stressing yourself out over this? I'm glad you decided to take care of the other pressing issues, more power to you. Hopefully you can still make it up there with the group, it's too much fun to miss. Good luck taking care of everything and have fun in Vegas.

I am actually finally going to a new unit this Friday. So I might still have a chance to get deployed before I get out.

I don't know if they do biscuits and gravy, we're originally from Michigan.... But I do know where the cracker barrel is! Realistically I'm not going to invite 15-20+ people to stay at my parents' place, but a few would probably be no problem if we want to go to the dragon some other time.

I was just joking about staying there man. I might think about it again though if they do biscuits and gravy, HAHA. I'm off this week but I set my alarm this morning just so I could make it to Hardee's and get some biscuits and gravy, HAHA.

My stomach has a fickle attitude, don't upset her. On your shifter, I assume you're talking about the one on the bottom of the shifter itself? I was missing one there too, I didn't even realize it when I put it back together last year. I noticed it after I put the C's short shifter in a couple weeks ago and realized how much tighter it was, haha.

Good for you Phil. No hard feelings, I just get rebellious when anyone but the military tells me what to do, HAHA. What event are you doing in Vegas, something to do with SEMA? I lived there for three years, that place kicks so much ***. Hope to see you at DGRR.

holyshit i missed alot

im for staying at the mansion, but i dont know if i can even go this year. Like i said in fayetteville, i got somethin else to do that saturday night that i cant miss (PROM), so if i did go it would be for wed, thurs, friday and come back sat.. maybe i could just go down thursday and stay friday all day and leave sat morning, but that seems like a HUGE waste of gas.

i really havent decided if im actually going yet. I know i WANT to go, and if i do, i would much much rather stay in the mansion. with the BOTD, the cabin system pretty much sucked. The "hq" cabin was the bigger style, but wiht everyone in there it was packed, hot, and generally not as plesant as the plush mansion. The otehr cabins were much smaller, and not nearly as well appointed as the mansion. I definately cannot afford a cabin on my own, not to mention that im pretty sure they wolnt rent one to me. THat wasnt an issue in sept becase of gary, but with 3 of us there it was kinda packed. I know we pretty much paid for his cabin, which im sure was nice. at least it was a place to stay though.

the thing on saturday last year (06) sucked, mainly because of the rain and because there wasnt much room for all the cars. Me not being rotary wasnt taht interested either, because other then one or 2 people, everyones car was locked up and they werent around. taht didnt give me much to look at/admire. with 100 ppl under that little shelter, it kinda sucked. as much as i appreciate phil working hard for the dgrr, i go for one reason: THE DRIVING.

april is a good time to go because there arent usually alot of groups around, so hopefully this year it will be pretty deserted.

SPARKNOTES
-prom is that weekend, so i cant stay sat.night
-i go to drive the dragon
-id rather hang out with the raleigh guys than anything else
-im 100% for the mansion as opposed to fagtana village
