Wow, what a deal and an even better project. White, no less!

Two hours with the garden hose and that thing is going to look like new.

Is the interior brown leather or velour?

Nice snag Martin!

Very pretty SE! What are your plans for it?

Ray, I don't have any gap issues, everything fits together like stock. I only come close to rubbing when driving through rough trails or acting like a fool. It never rubs, just gets close at full flex. For daily driving and jaunts through the yard, I could probably get away with not having a lift at all. You might find that true too.

My wheels are that same size. I got them on clearance for $180 shipped for all 5. Then another $40 for the center caps... Still a good deal though!

How about trading the wheels for that OGTA poster plus dinner at a meet sometime? I can bring them to a meet or you're welcome to pick them up here. 4 of them are in boxes, the 5th has a 235/75/15 tire on it (spare).

Wow Brett, that's a Five Star OGTA Discount! You don't see too many of them these days. Thanks!

I still need to get a Wankel together to go to a meeting. It’s not going to be for the January 2 OGTA meeting, but certainly by this spring, once the daylight savings time changes and we get good late afternoon daylight, I’ll be there.

But I have another idea. How about if Cathy and I take a trip up your way to pick up the wheels and, while we are at it, take you and Tara out for dinner?

You name the day and restaurant, I'll bring Cathy and the famous OGTA poster and maybe some of the other items on the list (I know how much you love X wheels). Let us know.

Thanks for the tips on the Jeep lifting, we'll play it by ear, first install the 31 x 10.5" rubber on your TJ rims and drive it around the yard for a while, then go from there.

Before your generous offer we were thinking about getting a set of steelies a lot like the ones you have on your TJ, ProComp Soft 8 Series 97 gloss black units from Quadratec:

https://www.quadratec.com/products/92600_002X_B_PG.htm

But since Cathy’s Jeep is not an off road vehicle the polished aluminum will add a nice touch, sweetened of course by the OGTA Discount. Thanks again!

Martin I really like the 1st gen brown leather interiors, I had them in my light beige 84 and brown 85 GSLs.

The good news is the brown leather interiors are the easiest to find in good condition, even nice drivers seats come up once in a while.

Here's a few teaser pics for inspiration:

It cleaned up nicely, beautiful car.

On the dash, I would watch ebay and put up a wanted notice in the RX-7 classified, they're out there but with not much market might be hard to find.

Who said this:

"Maybe the younger guys just don't appreciate the medicinal benefits of a pitcher of beer. Not only do you get smarter proportional to the amount of beer consumed, but you get better looking, and best of all your RX-7 even drives better on the way home."

Happy New Year Dudes!!!

Nope, not Robert.

It was Felix Wankel during an interview with Rotary Rocket magazine in 1984.

How 'bout them Dawgs!

Don't worry Robert, both teams will show up, this is the Big One.

I just hope Trump doesn't, what a way to spoil the day.

I've got a set of X wheels on the Dawgs, any takers?

What happened to the bee hive?

That looks like an SA oil cooler. the one that dangles from the bottom of the radiator.

actually i prefer the front mount over the bee hive. the early rotaries had them too.

ray, u still hoarding parts or plan to use that one? i noticed that ad said 81-85. the 12a during those yrs had the bee hive. didn't the gslse use the front mount?

I thought the 84/85 12As has the front mount as well? Beehive was only from 81-83 but I may be mistaken.

Exactly my reaction. After praising the beehive for years, looks like Ray is converting to the dark side.

Whats next Ray, GM and Ford ignition parts? You know you won't regret it.

u could be right tim. as the latest beehive 12a i've got is 83 and the 84 i drive didn't have an engine in it when i got it. i'll have to look at the se i've got this weekend and see if it has the front mount.

quick search revealed this 85 with beehive https://kansascity.craigslist.org/ct...462474679.html

and an 84 https://greenville.craigslist.org/ct...464804717.html

Quit with the wet dreams Tim, there ain't no way no GM or Ford parts are going in my Mazdas.

In fact GM and Ford parts are not even allowed on the premises here in Jefferson.

And let's be clear: Bee Hives Rule!

Michael I'm not hoarding parts, just collecting them.

I need this one for the White One, a race car with a ported 12A that will no longer balance with the elegant Bee Hive design.

Zoom Zoom!

FMOCs were on early 78-80 SA's and the 81 to early 83 FB's.

The late 83-85 12A's had the more technologically sophisticated Bee Hive water/oil heat exchangers.

In 1984 Mazda introduced the SE, which they fitted with the regressive FMOC.

What some would call the Dark Side (a metaphor for Evil).

This was one of the series of bad decisions Mazda made that led to the demise of the RX-7 as the Ultimate Sports Car.

Along with the 13B, fuel injection and obesity,

I'm not sure if the FMOC I got on ebay is the early SA version or the later SE version, if there is a difference.

Does anybody know?

Looks like the one from my SA. The mounting points are facing upward and there is the foam (well at one time in history it was foam) stuff on top of the oil cooler. That foam would have sealed the area between the short thick radiator and the oil cooler on the bottom.

EDIT: it is missing the mounting point bushing that holds the cooler on to the SA radiator bracket.

Placement is the reason why this oil cooler wasn't as favorable as the latter ones. The dangle from the bottom style didn't mix temperatures as thoroughly as the bee hive or a properly placed FMOC (in front of the radiator).

Thanks for the info James, sounds like all FMOCs are not created equal.

If it doesn't work out for the White One it may end up back on ebay, so if anybody likes what they see send me a note!
