Well, I'm fighting off a nasty sunburn, but had lots of fun. We're still covered up with hot dogs, but I suppose it comes with the territory. I'm glad you guys had a good time, and maybe we can make it a bigger event next year.

 

Wow! The meet at Lake Hartwell looks like it was awsome. I wish I could have gone. I am psyched for for Zoom Fest.

Ray, you better hope Cathy does not see that video of you feeding the goats beer.

 

No problem Mike, Jackson and I have an agreement, he's not going to tell. Also, yes, if you and Michelle had made it to the lake Saturday we would have at least tied the 12A equivalence record. Do you feel the guilt?

Hope you're not still suffering from that sunburn Crit, the atmosphere is thinning you know, we got exposed to a whole lot of sun on Saturday.

I'm just jealous that they were able to line them up by year. I don't think we've ever been that coordinated.

 

The Kissimmee thread got me to thinking. We could do a state park as the next Saturday meeting. No cost to reserve a pavilion and less clean up for the host afterwards.

This of course needs to be after Zoom-Fest!

Good lord what a wing on that yellow FC Just kidding. The meet looked like a lot of fun. I only have to miss one more and I'll have my full license back (hopefully). Then my half point car can help again . Guess who finished installing their black interior and power windows...?

Yes, Crit and I have decided the first gen is "old school". There is a gray area on if fuel injected from the factory removes it from "old school" eligibility or not. Who's gonna kick us out?

We were really happy to have such an even spread of all generations at our meet. Normally there might be only 1 or 2 1st gens here in Jacksonville while the 2nd and 3rd gens dominate.

Sure wish I lived closer to y'all. Looks like you had a great time, and you guys have all those mountain roads to drive on.

I was kidding about the pics above of course. I am glad to see so many 1st gen enthusiasts. I also have a 2nd gen, convertable, but there is nothing like the feel of the road when you drive a first gen..... it feels kinda raw. No mushyness, you hit a groove and the car throws you around a bit, but it never feels out of shape. I guess you just have to drive it, not ride it, you know what I mean?
Not knocking the others though, I just love my FB.

Can someone put up the details here, as well as the Sonic / BP get-together? I'm in the doghouse now with Dena, and am looking for something to do after work this week.

 

That would be my SA.

It was relocated by removing the AC/PS mounting bracket and replacing it with a Pineapple Racing alternator relocation bracket (no longer made). You can pick these up by watching the for sale section for old school rotaries section. They come up for sale every once in awhile.

The reason for relocating is two fold; better belt footprint on the water pump and free up the space on the top of the engine for other fun things. I originally ran the RB duel puilleys to fix belt slippage after removing the rats nest and the air pump specifically. With the relocated alternator the increased water pump pulley contact for the belt should allow a single belt to be used again. I decided to go ahead and put two belts back on as a backup for any belt failure. Plus I was too lazy to remove the duel pulleys and go back to a single pulley on the main and alternator.

So plusses are:
1. Better belt contact
2. Free up space above the engine
3. Cool factor

Minuses are:
1. No AC or PS
2. More weight on left side of car
3. Had to redo engine wiring (not really a minus to me)

I would do this to every rotary I own in the future. Its the best logical position when there's no other accessories to help get a grip on that pesky water pump.

And yes Tim's alternator magic is, well, interesting. Give it that Suby look! Also, Tim gets about 25 mpg out on the highway, largely due to that alternator relocation, I'm sure.

The Dates. June, 12, 8:00 pm sonic ob sattellite blvd at Gwinnett place mall. Just a cruise in Then SATURDAY, JUNE, 14, at Buford Dam the lower pool park, (the river side, not lake side) at 3:00 pm till close followed by a ride out to BP on Pleasant Hill Rd.

Now Ray, you know I get that kind of mileage due to my electric fan not the alternator relocation. Your in denial about electric fans is all.

 

Tim, it's easy enough to bolt a mechanical fan back onto your waterpump. I'd love to see a direct comparo of each fan for two tanks of gas each, just for my own understanding. I've got a hunch that the e-fan is far superior, but I'd love to see numbers.
