Can't give you too much specifics, but I know the vents won't be the same. The S2 is similar to the S1, both of which are similar to the NA Miata. The S3 is a different animal. IIRC, the S3 has a more robust interior, but you wouldn't think so looking at my wide body.

Mike - Try Fred's method, but don't worry about having to lift the engine. It can be accomplished really easily. It's so easy, the factory jack can do it.

Thanks for the heads up Donnie, I'd better do some more research before I tear out that S2 dash hoping to replace it with an S3 unit.

Anybody done this, have some pointers or best of all, have some pictures???

Mike, I talked to the tree about a move to your garage, but she didn't like the idea. Something about chainsaws, I didn't quite understand the argument.

True enough Mike, once you have it home you can turn the wheels into some bird baths and bar-B-Q grills and install some X wheels, you'll be the envy of the neighborhood.

I just registered fpr DGRR, but I think I'll be taking the bimmer over the RX7... I want to make it up there and then back home without too much trouble

I haven't started the first gen in a few days, so the wife and I drove it around last night and went by home depot. I was surprised by how well it starts, it can sit for 2 weeks and start up perfectly fine. No flooding or weak battery or anything.

If I get the oil leak fixed and fix a few interior rattles, I think the wife might want to drive it a few days out of the week... We'll see how that goes...

Brett, you're going Deals Gap Rotary Rally. You have to at least drive a Mazda product. Talk with Tara, I think she'll be able to talk some sense into you.

The Rotary Gods will get you for that Brett, probably on your way to Deal's Gap.

I don't usually like being an enabler (Alex), but I can't resist sharing. A guy just posted these on the FB page "RX7".

He's threatening to take them to the scrap yard. I think he wants $10 - 15 each. His name is Chris Taylor and it looks like he's in Texas.

If he takes them to the scrap yard, he'll have the Rotary Gods to answer to.

Registered for DGRR a few nights ago myself. Gives me motivation to finish fixing my car and get it ready for the event.

What if I wear a rotary shirt and bring some RX7 parts along? Will that be enough of a sacrifice?

No... You just said that the RX7 is running better than you expected. Its telling you that it WANTS to go! Plus we have people driving 7s from California and Canada. Do you really want to be the wuss that was scared to drive from Atlanta?

^^ What he said. You can never go wrong GT grad.

Now we just need to get Tommy into a nice 1st gen. There are 3 or 4 of them at this farm I know of up in Jefferson.

How about "Buy Tommy a practical RX8" fund

A Mazda RX-8 Pickup Truck Is Something The World Is Not Ready For

If I drove the first gen into the mountains, it would try to kill me. The steering has so much play in it that I could probably turn the wheel back and forth nearly 90 degrees and still be going straight.

Maybe one of you old guys can give me a hand with that if I bring it next Tuesday. I keep telling myself that I'm going to swap out that oil cooler, maybe I'll really do it this weekend... Replacing our living room floor can wait.

I saw that one Ben, way over priced IMO. But if anyone does get it, there's a really nice set of tan leather seats for sale down in Florida, excellent condition.

But try this unit if you want to spend half as much for twice the car, lots of potential. And I'll bet he'd take $750-$800 to drive it home.
