That's a nice leak you got there Alex, very well documented. You want to do The ZoomFest Chronicles Video this year?

Try Rock Auto you guys, this sounds like a great opportunity to put some new parts in (Alex, they had a great deal on the 12A rad a few months ago).

That Donnie jump was really cool, I'll bet you he won't be doing that again this year.

The ZoomFest Chronicles??

I have never heard of Rock Auto, I just checked and they have one for $134. Thats about $65 cheaper than black dragons price. If i cant find one locally then i'll probably go with them.

Thanks for letting me know about Rock Auto!

Is that delivered? If so, great price, if not, buy it anyway, these things are just going to get harder to find (I have a brand new spare for the 12A in the parts shed, bought for less than three figures delivered a couple months ago from a Rock Auto "Sale").

The ZoomFest Chronicles is a video, yet to happen, of what's gonna' happen at the 2010 ZoomFest. I'm guessing, with all those O's and 0's, it will go viral. If you or Chris don't do it, I will.

Hey you guys, I'll bet you didn't know I play a mean bottle. Here's a vid from a few years ago, before I grew the beard:

Man, that thing has a lot of lights. We don't need most of those here in Georgia.

Billy, were you really on that thing?:

Like a time trial between ZF peoples? Our very own private parade laps due to our overwhelming presence last year? Free tires for my FD

Well, that scooter has been sold, so find me something else to jump with and it's on

I am still trying to get my SA road worthy. I just need to finish up the coilover swap, dellorto rebuild, and oh yeah, my terrible gas leak. Just 4 days till the next OGTA meet, and just 14 till DGRR.

The CR-V saw some mountain shredding tonight... We did a turn and burn to Kentucky and back, and took 68 and 129 back.. I think 64 was in there somewhere, or maybe it was my imagination...but anyways.. yes... It was rather fun.

Yeah, Rock Auto is good stuff.

Ok, I'm going to ask an automotive question that is out of the normal knowledge pool here (piston engines and air conditioning), but what the heck.

My truck falls on its face when the A/C compressor clutch engages. Extremely noticeable power loss suddenly. You can really tell the difference driving down the road. It didn't used to do this. So, I'm trying to figure out possible causes. It does idle low too with the A/C on, at about 500 rpm (as opposed to 550 without). However, the A/C works pretty good. I'm kinda lost at this point. No odd noises or anything. Volt meter will drop at idle, but in that truck, it's consistent with something like raising a window at idle (gauges in that truck are retarded, you can watch the tstat open/close on the temp gauge).

Anyway, kinda stumped at this point. And in that thing, I want A/C.

If it were just an idle problem, I'd check the circuit that lets the ECU know that the AC is on and to go to high idle. If that's working like normal, then I'd check the Idle Air Control module, which is usually a stepper motor on the throttle body. If you can tell a big difference as you go down the road, then that's just strange. AC shouldn't be a big load compared with moving the Bronco down the road.

Since when is a 50 rev difference anything to write home about? My mom's CR-V, my sister's Integra and my dad's truck all idle ever so slightly higher or lower with the A/C on or off. I wouldn't be completely worried about that... but if you are, I agree with Crit and start there.

As for the loss in power, maybe the bearings in the compressor are getting old or the lubricant in the refrigerant aren't doing such a good job anymore. You could try 'flushing' the system and replacing the lubricant/refrigerant mix. If the problem still persists, it could be the compressor is getting ready to seize, or that maybe the Bronco just doesn't have the oomph anymore... Okay, so that last one is less likely, but eh.

Good luck, Tim

The idle I'm not too concerned about. It's when I'm driving. It's a fairly significant loss in power. While the Bronco hasn't ever been what I'd consider a really powerful vehicle, it has been sufficient.

My biggest concern is obviously compressor problems. I'm also wondering if it could be vacuum, or maybe electrical issues. It almost seems to have coincided with when I put a new alternator in, if I remember right.

Downside with flushing it is, if I recall correctly, it's still an R-12 system (it was originally, but Ford replaced the entire thing at 36010 miles).

You need to watch the movie Billy, you will see what I mean. Any chance of getting Grand Prix to show at ZoomFest?

I'll check with the wife, she usually doesn't let me out after dark.

Looks like Tuesday afternoon is going to be sunny, in the '80's, perfect for an OGTA meeting. Quite a contrast to last year's cold snap!

I am really getting worried about Ray. First, he is talking about Greg getting a belly button ring, now he is posting pictures of young boys. Ray, you may need to take some time off from working on the house. You haven't been inhaling the Liquid Nails again, have you?

Great to see some info on ZoomFest. I am really looking forward to it.

Who's thinking about going to the Mitty?

http://classicmotorsports.net/events/mitty-2010/

I didn't think I would be able to pull it off this year, but Michelle has been doing much better. I might be able to sneak in a day trip out to RA.

Elizabeth and I should be at the mitty this year. I am planning on it anyhow. I haven't been in 2 years and miss the old cars and races.

Probably not going to make the OGTA meeting tomorrow. Scheduling is not working well for me Oh well. Next time!

That's great news that Michelle is doing well Mike!

Now, concerning you guy's concerns about orientations, this looks like a very attractive woman to me. Her name is Françoise Hardy and when you see her in Grand Prix you will not be confused about whether she is a boy or a girl:

It's you guys that are seeing young boys every where you look that I'm worried about.

Darn Dave, I was hoping that you could get some time to make it down, be great to see you and the FD. But I realize it's quite a lot of time and expense for you guys, we really appreciate it whenever you can make it down. The Mitty would be a great time to get together, let's go for it, have an Official OGTA Weekend Meet at the track.

Anybody gonna' make it over to Jeffery's (Twisted Sister's) tomorrow evening?

You can count on me. It has gotten warm out, a pitcher of ice cold beer sounds good. But, of course I primarily come to see the rotaries.
