Tried everything from the dizzy, coils, spark plugs, thinking it was missing spark. Eventually we went back into the fuel rail, safety wired the injectors to the rail, and ran it, and it was getting fuel, since both injectors were spraying well. Then we re-checked the ignition system, and even took the spark plugs out, grounded them on the EGI, and finally found a combo of plugs, wires, dizzy, and coil that would get all 4 to fire consistently. Still wouldn't fire when the plugs were in. We checked everything both Crit and I could think of...

Quad

P.S. Crit might possibly be picking me up from work Tuesday, so at least I can make the meet. Just sans RX7.
This problem is something minor and should be an easy fix. The white car that i was selling that you looked at had the same problem. The guy that sold it to me removed the intake to replace the injectors and he could never get it running again. Hopefully they do not drain your pockets to fix it!

sorry to hear bout the problems with the SE guys. thanx ray the 7 has wipers now. still has problem with the brakes tho. bleeding yielded very little air so we're thinking it's the master. bill's getting one tomorrow and will be back by so we can put it on. the washer motor must be bad since cleaning the connections didn't help. and he just unplugged the sensor so the light would go off. forgot to get some pix to post so maybe tomorrow. i also told him to get on here and sign up.

Are you being a bad college student going to parties and getting drunk? Totally kidding.

I washed the FC after I got that exhaust on and vacuumed and armor-alled the interior, and I think I've made up my mind... I should park the FC, fix everything I can think of and swap motors, driving the FB in the meantime, and then either sell the FB if I'm still jobless once the FC's finished or start stripping it's little 12A down and turning it into a money pit. Sound like a plan? You old guys overlook the sell part for now

Yes. The FCs were the only cars screwed-up enough to use the same part number, same color plastic, for two fundamentally different and non-interchangable parts. There's only one kind of SE injector.

When i originally pulled the intake the injector plugs were deteriorated and missing clips. Who ever did the work used electrical tape to hold the injector wires to the injector. I used a noid light on it and it had no current to the injector so i got 2 good used injector wires with the plugs and spliced them in. One injector was leaking like a sieve. The other was was not spraying at all. I got 2 injectors and all new injector seals. This is all that was wrong with it. The reason it started that day and cut off was because the previous owner was adjusting screws and did not know what he was doing. That same day after you left we adjusted the screws and it always cranked and ran without cutting off. That white GSL-SE went to Florida. Spoke with him the other day and he is happy with it. I believe that engine was ported because that was the fastest SE i have ever driven. It hauled ***! He is happy with it - just dealing with body work now. Good luck with yours Mazcare should get you up and running.

80 SA color code

Billy - I had a problem finding the paint code due to the hood not being original. Tender blue is actually darker than my 80 SA. From the info i gathered this is a rare color for an 80 SA. Apparently they were very few 80 models manufactured in this color! Here is a little bit of what i found.

"Stardust Blue" (star dust blue), was an OEM paint color
supplied by Mazda on the 1979, 1980, and 1981 Mazda 626,
and on the 1980, 1981, and 1982 Mazda RX7.

The color code for "stardust blue" was U2.

Michael if the windshield washer fluid motor seems bad on Bill's new FB, give it a few whacks with a screwdriver handle. The unit in the silver one quit on me a few days ago and I just unplugged it, whacked it a few times and reinstalled, it worked fine after that. If that doesn't work and you are sure it's the motor (ie test to be sure you are getting 12V at the connector when turned on) I can pull a motor from one of my units and mail it to you.

Roland if you still have that logicon and aren't using it I probably could put it to work. It turns out, as luck would have it, I'm having logicon problems with the silver one and I can't locate the spare unit I thought I had. If you have it and are coming to OGTA this Tuesday could you bring it along?

I'm still hoping to have the Silver One ready for Tuesday, but she has her own agenda, so we'll see. I'll be there in any event, can't miss three OGTA meetings in a row.

Ray, I will call dad and ask him for you. I think he may have taken it to an electronics shop so they could fix what was bad internally. I will find out though. If not i should have a bad one i think. Will check.

Thanks Roland, I'm not sure what the problem with the logicon in the silver one is. I ended up removing the logicon from the white one today and plugging it in, but still no response. It seems like power has been lost to the unit. I have checked the fuses and fusible links three times, but they look fine.

Does anybody know if the 84/85 FBs have the fusible links in the steering column? I've checked but I don't think it has any located there, just the three under the hood.

Hey Tony, why don't you bring this buggy and your *** to the next OGTA meet?

I noticed that too but Mike beat me to it. Hmmm, maybe Crit's a mod now and wants to play with us? But his name's not bold... Who knows.
