I've noticed there are never any meetings or gatherings of rotary owners here on the gulf coast. No rotary clubs or anything. Central and south florida always seem to have something going on. We have...well...nothing. Maybe once in a blue moon there might be something but it is a very rare event. Am I the only one that feels this way, or am I just in the dark about all the get togethers?

 

I agree with you...however I guess the clubs / meets are where the cars actually are! The Tampa Area has many tuners as does Miami. I try and go to Orlando on the 1st Fri of the month...nice size group with GREAT people! There are actually people from GA that come as well as one from NJ. Go to the https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showthread.php?t=825545 and talk to some of the people that come from your way and I am SURE they will talk you into it as well!

 

There is nothing around Tallahassee either.

 

In the Tampa st. pete area, a few guys have just got together and started calling themselves Tampa Bay Rotary. We have a get together at ft Desoto in St Pete next Sunday Dec 20th. We are attempting to establish ourselves as an actual group, travel to meets thru out the state. We plan on attending rotorfest in Orlando, as well as some other things going on in the bay area. This will be our 2nd "rotary meet" at Ft Desoto, the first pulled in 15 rx7's, mostly Fc's. We have 3 Fbs, 2 Fd's, and 5 Fc's in the group or so i believe... Most of us post on Tampa Racing because its a local forum for us. Granted we are all in our teens to mid 20's, we enjoy eachothers company and messing with stuff. there are a few of us undergoing the 6 port turbo build, and another doing a t2 into NA swap. Couple of bridge ported Fb's. If anyone on the gulf coast would be interested in coming to desoto on the 20th lemme know, ill give you the time and place.

I drove my FD engine three hours west from Tallahassee to Fighters Garage to rebuild it. Great people. Would love to hear of another gathering there.

 

A friend of mine and I held a few rotary-only barbecues a few years ago, we had folks come from Jax, Atlanta, and a few other places. We also had a couple locals-only rotary gatherings, and we cruised to Jax for a meet there once. But getting people together was like pulling teeth, it was extremely difficult to get anything pinned down.

Also, the folks on the mailing list (serx7-tallahassee@yahoo, something like that) had some stupid fight regarding v8 swaps, and everyone just stopped using the mailing list after that.
