Need help with Full MSD Ignition Setup... Pics Inside!!
I have installed a full MSD Ignition system on my car and have ran into a problem with break up. I am using an MSD DIS 2, an MSD 6AL for the Leading. I have three trigger wires running from the Haltech E6K (Blue= T1, White with Black line = T2, Green = Leading) then from the ignition boxes i run to 3 MSD coils. (2 MSD coils one for each trailing and one dual tower coil for the leading) My problem is for some reason the egt readings are running higher than before and on idle the car feels lazier and and takes longer to start. it would be awsome if i could speak with someone who had done this sort of setup already or that may shed some light on this problem.
Thanks
Rob
Thanks

Rob,
I think that Directfreak has that setup or was it Lucky7305... now I know that Andres also did the same type setup.. if you want his number then PM and I will give it to you... after all Andres was recommended by Directfreak and I was pleased with the work he did on my vert.
Also Phil did a setup for my vert next to the starter and it fires up right away... like pumping 12V into a 6 Volt starter... it Zings up quick...

Preacher - Not to take anything from Andres - but he helped me setup the original (blow-throuh holley) setup in my car, including mounting the engine and fabbing the exhaust. It was me,myself, I and that later upgraded to a dual MSD 6AL setup through the distributor.
Later on, when my Haltech was ready to install, is when Crispeed basically re-did the most of the car. At that time we decided to go with an even more advanced ignition system using MSD Coils and 3xMSD 6ALs.
I have a similar setup. Crispeed setup my car with the Haltech, upgraded ignition, knock sensor, all the goodies etc, - Not to mention tune the car and go over the car completely and repair many small quirks that were not done up to spec orignally. It's still not finished, as it is a work in progress.
That's why I haven't "made it pretty" yet. As it is, we plan to go for much more power than the car already makes in the not too distant future..
It's just important in this day and age that credit is given to the proper parties for their input. As it is - if you go up a few posts, you'll see Crispeed already answered Rob's question in detail.
If I remember correctly, even the the installer that originally installed the Haltech in Rob's car, had to go to Crispeed to get it to work properly, as Haltech installation manual had some errors that Crispeed already knew by memory.

thanks chris, we have all the parameters as you stated except for the 50% . we have it set at 20%. we will make these changes and i will let you know what happens. Speaking of haltech manual information, Is the manual incorrect saying that the blue wire = T1 and that white with black = T2. these wires were reversed on the plug but the car ran fine. this was part of the original install that rob did.
Again, Thanks!
Again, Thanks!

Quick check would be to lock the ignition timing on the 'Ignition Setup' page to 0 deg. Then go to the Trailing ignition split maps and enter a value of 20 deg everywhere on the map. Check the timing at idle on T1 at first. If you're in the ballpark then the mark on the pulley should be close to the factory pointer on the front cover. If not then check the timing on T2. If the T2 is closer to the mark then T1 & T2 are reversed.

Thanks for the input chris, worked out perfect. turns out the wire are reversed on my haltech for some reason, also thats why i asked if you knew about any updates on the manual, one more thing you might be able to shed some light on. how do i feed a tach signal to the factory tach? can i just run a signal tach wire from one of the MSD to somewhere on the factory wire harness near where the ignitor used to be?
