Thanks for the heads up One-Eye. I am printing this out now and comparing to my driving directions so we know when it is smart to drive extra slow.

 

BTW, there nearest place to eat with be Deal's Gap gas station. That's assuming Fontana doesn't provide anything to eat...i assume they will have the buffet.

on a Side note...make sure your brakes are up to par! I boiled mine so i started used the gears instead. I highly recommend Dot 4....Super Blue, etc.

Oh, i think the road leading up to the Dragon is more fun than teh Dragon itself...it's faster. As my friend side, "WHAT! we aren't on the Dragon yet?"

Wake up early and you WILL NOT hit traffic. Between 6am and 8am i don't think you'll have any issue. Less bikes you'll have to worry about too...and they get rather aggressive.

Hmm, i sorta wish i could go...HAHA. Oh well, i'll be there one month later for ZdayZ. I saw a red and Montego Blue FD last time.

 

BTW, where did you all get the idea for this event anyway?

Far was where we got this idea.. Me and few others here in AL thought about having some large gathering around SE area.. Specially after Last years Rotary Revolution, we wanted to have something FREE for the SE rotorheads. And figure Deals Gap was the best place to have a gathering.. Also, most car clubs and motorcycle clubs head to deals gap and I figure why not for the RX-7s.. I hope you could make it..

if you are careless, you will get your *** busted hard! Dont think for a second that there is no threat of getting pulled over. i have also noticed that some people are under the impression that there is no posted speed limit on the Tn side, but 2 yrs ago they added speed limit signs, and they are 45 i think.

As mentioned above, I am planning on getting a bunch of video footage from the weekend, editing it, and making DVD's. I will figure out what a price for a copy would be. I will let you all know ASAP and we can do the payments in a similar way to the Tshirt orders. We plan on getting videos of as many of the cars as possible while we are parked at Deals Gap and while we are driving. I will have a girl there doing interviews with owners too.

 

Could you use other footage as well? I'll have my in-car camera rolling as well.

Hey man, couple things to ask before we go. First do you have the area code or something for the area or an address so i can get directions from mapquest. Does it matter about age, because i am 17 and own my RX-7 but i need to know if i have to bring an adult or parent for any specific things. And lastly which do you think i should do before i go get performance pads and posibly rotors or lower it 1" from stock. The breaks i have now are basically new but there stock and the ones i would be getting are nice performance ones.

The gas station is the motorcycle resort. They had a little diner there. You can have a typical breakfast and lunch there. Deal's Gap Resort

As far cops busting you on the Dragon itself... you'll have to be really stupid for that to happen. DO NOT continuously cross the double yellow lines and you'll be ok. I've never seen one but it's rumored the the police patrol the air watchingfor double yellow crossers. If you've never ridden the Dragon before, you won't be going fast the first few times anyways.

There are many blind turns so this is why you cannot cross that double yellow. Plus, those bikers get mighty aggressive...would anyone like a Ducati for a snack?

I think our meals were about $10. Well, it wasn't any more that that and it included an all you can eat buffet. Just remember you really have no where to go.

If you do try and have Deal's Gap resort cater, make sure you aren't stepping on Fontana's shoe's.

Beside's Deal's Gap Resort & Fontana, the closest places to at are about 45 minuites away....Natahala, Robinsville, and Bryson City. Remember that each cabin has a stove but plates and such are rather limited.

Hmmm, cabins'... some are new while others are rustic by comparision. Personally, they aren't bad. I've only seen the Lodge, Willow,and Dogwoods. I satye din teh Dogwoods but the Williows are nice...one bedroom witha couch; having plenty of room for blow up matress. My Dogwood has always had a sofa couch.

 

To that post that said the Z Cub last year had 70 car's attending...it was more like 80 something and i wouldnt be surprised if we hit the 120 mark this year.

The wierd thing is, the 7 guys talk more about it than any of the Z forums do.

At the end to the "Dragon," right after the turn around, there is a straightaway for some open throttle experimentation.

Good point one eye.. Last time I asked about catering, the restaurant wasn't open. I'm going to call and see if we could ask them to give us a break. I think if I could get it down to $7 per person, I might be able to do it.. I guess we could ask.. Other option would be to get all the supply for a huge BBQ lunch.. but i really don't want to deal with that..

Other optiion will be to find the nearest subway, pay 50 on delivery and get 10 x 10ft subs.

Also, Here is an awesome video of Deals Gap.. Obviously, it from the biker's view and he's exceeding the speed limit.. but its almost the full length of Tail of the Dragon taped.. One hell of a rider!!
