Well, I drove the FB down the interstate for a bit. At 75mph I'm taching 3500 rpm. Not too bad. TII trans running 3.91 rear gear and a 23.4 inch tire.

what is it at 80? i'm doing 4k @ 80. 75 @ 3500 sounds bout right tho.

 

Ditto. 4k @ 80 mph. Stock 12a, tranny and rear end with stock 13" wheels and 60 series tires ( reduces the diameter just a bit).

 

well with my bridge in my truck 5th gear at 80 is 1100 rpms lol. I guess thats to thank a GTU trans and a 3.32 rear gear lol. guess im gonna do a rear swap after tomorrows carb and intake swap.

 

I think maybe your math is off, because I'm getting something like 36 mph using a guess of tire diameter as 28 inches.

 

1100? no way it's that low. u would need to down shift back to 4th every time u needed to climb a hill.

 

yeah i do have to down shift if i wanna climb a hill or even a hump it seems like. the ol truck has 205/50r 14's if that helps any. the stock rear gear is a 3.32. i dont know the final drive per-say, but mazda belives it to be a .525 5th gear going off the invoice from the recipt. it sounded a litle weird to me but it is what it is. lol at that rate I should get 35 mpg on the highway lol

 

GTU tranny in 5th has a ratio of .758 and your using a 3.32 rear with tires that are
approximately 22.1 inches in diameter. Soooo your final speed at 1100 rpm is close
to 25.1 mph @ 1000 rpm. Heres the link to the page with the best tranny gear ratios I could find.

But even if I sub in your .525 5th gear ratio I only get 36.2 @ 1000 rpm. I think either
your speedo is way off or your tachy is wacky.

 

I don't know what his trans final drive ratio is, but if his truck has that tall a rear gear I would guess that's right.

WELL....... sam allready knows but some **** sucking kids decided to go car bashing at wal-mart and trashed 6 cars in the parking lot with a 4x4. the fb survived it, but took a wound to the passenger fender. atleast it wasnt as bad as the girl in the lexus. they got all four of her doors, hood, trunk lid, and drivers fender. Police still on the hunt........ Just so happens that the cameras at wally world didnt get a good view or the **** heads sooooo...... i guess shes gonna get painted sooner than later.

hell yeah manny i like your style sucks to hear that about your seven dre. along the same lines, how in the hell do you straighten out the bumper? mine's sitting a bit crooked (lower on the passenger side) after some idiot backed up or pulled up on top of the front cowl at wal-mart a while back.

just the passenger fender at the top got bashed. it was the walmart in denver where it happened. Its not that bad, but its bad enough for me to handle. I found a parts car, (thanks long) so i just need to get my cash ola together so i can get the ol gal. Tim the overdrive I have is actually a .525. the guy had the gear set swapped out apparently going off the tranny's build sheet. its just stupid gearing, it drops like 3000 rpms between 4th and 5th, definatly a looooong gear. anyways I have alot of work to do on the old truck, gotta finish my carb swap and see how that goes.

 

Hey guys. I know its been awhile since Ive posted here. Ive been real busy with work amongst other things. Anyways, work should be starting up again very soon on my Seven. Ive got a bunch of parts to go. Also Id like to be at the next meet so I will keep in touch and troll this thread.
