Well, not yet. And the funny thing is, I only have about 12 weeks to go. I think I am going to let someone else buy that white 91. Although I would LOVE to have it, I can't really afford it right now, and don't have the time to do all the transplant stuff before I go. Besides, I can't own EVERY FC I see, though god knows I've tried...

As for the junked TII, I may yet buy that, but not certain. If I do, I will just strip it and ship stuff home.

I also plan to strip that 90 Lancer AWD sedan, which I am not sure I had mentioned before. It has a solid rear axle, but it would still be cool, I think, to swap the front and rear subframes into a similar vintage Mirage and stick a 4G63t engine in it. Kind of like a pre-Evo Evo. I might sell my GVR4 if I do that.

Speaking of my GVR4, next week I am going to strip some parts off a Euro-spec 91 Galant. Nothing fancy, just the less-dorky-looking bumpers, the H4 headlights, and the non-mouse seatbelts and related trim. All for about $350, not too bad.

I am still undecided on the Sunbird/Cavalier. I now have the Cavalier that I wanted, so I could swap in the engine. I was thinking of shipping that car back home, with the transplant, of course, but I don't know if I really want to. What would be cool, though, would be to shipi that POS back to the States and drop the engine into a 3rd gen J-body (probably Cavalier) coupe. I think the newer ones especially look pretty cool, for domestic compacts, and the engine/tranny combo should just bolt right in.

The CRX is also probably going back home with me. It's not going to be as easy as I thought to sell this to someone, especially in as short a period of time as I will have after the race (which is May 10th, if any of you are interested). But, the body is in rather sad shape underneath (being from Maine and all), so no telling how much longer it will be structurally sound (ok, it's not THAT bad). I was thinking then of stripping that car when I get back to the States to put all the good stuff in a better-shape CRX, and then continue rallying that until I decide to move on to something else.

Damn, when do you say enough is enough?

OK, well, maybe I should simplify. Sell the Cavalier I have now, after changing the doors and fenders for the ones on my junked Sunbird, then send the Sunbird to the junkyard, minus engine and tranny, and whatever else I think I may need, then ship that back to the States with my household goods Do the same with the TII and Lancer, and send the CRX back for free. Hmmm.... Sounds easier to me. Then I could sell the sunbird engine, since I won't really need it, when I get back to the States.

Then, hmmm, still have the parts for an AWD Mirage. OK, well, buy a Mirage and perform that swap, and sell the GVR4. Then what of the parts I bought for the GVR4? Damn....

Then still have parts for a TII... OK, could use my black 91 AT for a donor body for the swap, which would be cool, since it's only got 66k miles. Sweet!

Then, still have the GTUs. Hmmm....

So, at the end of, let's say a year (yeah, right!), I'd have the Black 91 TII conversion, an AWD Mirage, the GTUs, and a rally car. Hmm, still too much.

OK, forget about swapping the parts on the black 91, sell it also. Sell GTUs? No ******* way, not one of only 100 made. Hmm, so just be turbo-rexless? Why not, I haven't owned one yet. Turbo the GTUs? AM I MAD? See above statement regarding rarity. Damn....

OK, so pared down to AWD Mirage, GTUs and Rally car. I could live with that, I think.

Excuse my insanity, this is really what I have to deal with on a daily basis. Aren't you glad you're not me?

What would you keep?

Ren

Well, I still want a rally car. But since I won't be able to race very often... I don't know. At any rate I pretty much have to bring it back to the States any way. Maybe I'll sell it when I get back.

I don't quite understand the part about getting a job... I'll still be in the Navy when I get back. Almost 12 years in now, 8 to go. Well, technically, I have 4 years left on my current contract, the other 4 are all I would have left to "retirement" (a pension, anyway, I'll still have to work, just not as hard as I would if I just got out).

I'm pretty sure I've decided against the 240, but I'm pretty sure my parents have decided against building the ReX...so I may still go with the 240 if its the best I can get. I dunno.... anybody want to donate a car??? I do accept freebies.
