Those videos are out from california, at one of the very popular, technical mountains out here. Those guys are pretty fast uphill. The fastest downhiller is an SCCA Honda cup S2000 that races who is a friend of mine (the car WAS a honda cup car when the class existed). The EVO and M3 is pretty quick, but def not the fastest. A buddy with a Black Legacy that was bone stock with Toyo RA-1s ran faster than that.
Mauricio on the Evo could hang with Benny on the uphill on street tires too.
If either the M3 or the Evo were on R-comps also Benny would be toast.
The S2000 also only ran on r-comps too if I remember right. Anyone can be fast on race tires. Jetta John or Corolla Brandon haul(ed) *** on the shittiest tires possible.

Are you talking about Benny in the Legacy? He's not that fast considering he only ran on r-comps and the M3 could just about hang with him on the downhill on street tires, only one or two turns behind by the bottom.

I hope he would be toast, considering mauricio and the M3 run there all time. Benny went up there once in a while and the legacy was not his fastest car.
Reliable word tells me mauricio runs race tires most of the time anyway, the M3 runs S2s, and jetta jon ran victo-racers at one point too.
The S2000 is a racing car in the literal sense of the word. The RA-1s were his track tires, and his street tires. It is a lot harder racing on slicks on the mountain than running street tires.
I go up to GMR once in a while, but most of the time too lazy.

I think Mauricio ran some kind of Nitto DOT track tire, you're right.
The M3 runs on Hankooks RS2's which are basically like Azenis that everyone runs, but yeah he's been up there for a while, I guess he used to run Ridge in the late 80's and in the 90's
I've been on canyon rides in cars with r-comps and it's not comparison, it's almost like cheating! Just pick a line and it sticks! Real scary when they break traction though.
The S2K, was that Max or Big Brandon?

No, my friend alex. He is an old school guy. Almost 26 now. He ran GMR/Azusa for at least 4-5 years before starting to race in SCCA. He had a legend, then an AE86 which he wrecked, then his S2000.
If he pushed himself he can easily be the fastest downhiller. He was for the longest time before he broke stuff on his car and he stopped for a while, that and Honda cup fell apart after a while. His car has almost no engine modifications.
