Fast *** canyon run: EVO VIII and E36 M3
EVO VIII vs. E36 M3
Lead car: EVO VIII
350awhp
Camera car: E36 M3
210rwhp
Both cars on Hankook RS2's. Cool flames from the EVO
Its nice to see some real driving instead of the usual slow *** dorifto/initial D/Honda bullshit on youtube.
More from the same user:
Fun run with 350Z
Fully caged WRX stock suspension/shitty tires vs. 20v AE86
E36 M3 vs. RX8
M3 chase car in all the vids.
Warning: If you're unfamiliar with this type of driving these videos will be extremely boring to you.

reminds me of how i used to spend my nights a few years ago. except the road i did was more twisty and a little shorter. because of that nobody could keep up with my miata downhill. going through a set of tires every few months got expensive... however my friends who drove in the mountains have moved away and i've grown out of mountain driving. every once and awhile ill go up by myself and drive, not too fast though.
its safer at night, less traffic and on the off chance there is a car coming you can see their headlights ahead of time. however they are idiots for doing it on the street
yes i know i am dumb and they are dumb for driving like that on the street

From what I've read in the comments the road leads nowhere, its 3am and its a weeknight. In the end of the 350Z video you can actually see some cones/barrels as if the road is blocked off or a dead end. You cant argue the fact that they didn't run into any cars in the 5-8 videos that they've posted that are 5:00+ minutes each.
Yeah its only so much fun without any real competition. Around here its mostly drag racing and those few Miata/240 owners with crappy suspension setups (slammed with rediculous camber/shitty tires) that claim to be fast. Looks like a good sized group in the vid though.

Those videos are out from california, at one of the very popular, technical mountains out here. Those guys are pretty fast uphill. The fastest downhiller is an SCCA Honda cup S2000 that races who is a friend of mine (the car WAS a honda cup car when the class existed). The EVO and M3 is pretty quick, but def not the fastest. A buddy with a Black Legacy that was bone stock with Toyo RA-1s ran faster than that.

I really like this guys youtube videos!
Only in the US I'm reading that lane crossing is a sooo extreemly bad thing
When I'm driving in the mountains I'm using both lanes when is see no other traffic coming,....on blind corners I stay on my lane,....and you can see oncoming traffic at night pretty good, so it's no big deal.
and when the guys in the video have blocked off the traffic, and the road is in the middle of nowhere....why shouldn't they use both lanes?!
non-drifting Touge videos without lane crossing are pretty boring.

Its not, given that the road is deserted and/or theres spotters on each side radio-ing in any traffic. Theres easily 30 minutes of footage from that same road and not one of them has any oncoming traffic. The people bitching simply have nothing better to do, and have probably never driven their cars to the extreme limit. They enjoy updating their sigs with their uber sweet mods and driving slow. Not everyone wants to pay $350 for an HPDE weekend or go to a lame *** autocross. STFU and start another thread and I'll gladly discuss this.

Thats awesome, I figured they weren't the fastest but they got some sweet footage so

Well, Khanartist, one thing you cannot see is, when driving on this road, is no matter how treacherous and narrow it is, there are really no corners that are 100 percent blind corners. You can see opposing traffic, even when driving downhill at full speed, a mile away or at least see headlights. I cannot think of how long it has been since someone really got injured up there.
Before a lot of the newer guys started running up there, a lot of the guys who are professional drivers started here. Calvin Wan, Jaijiro (Drifts a JZX90), and a lot of the guys who were REALLY Fast a few years ago, got cars like GT3 RSs, and NSXs, and continue to race up there. Cops used to go up there, for the most part, they do not bother anymore. It was not uncommon to see full out race-cars trailered up there for a run or 2.

I'll be the first to admit, I've done a few crazy canyon runs, had a friend smash up his BMW on a Canyon run, admittedly he wasn't a very skilled driver, but still. All it takes is for a deer to leap out and BAM...I'm the one who has to scrape them up off the road =(

Yes deer are a major contributing factor to me not driving on backroads anymore. The only way I see someone crashing/losing control is road hazards and mechanical faliure. I've hit a deer, dumbell, and dodged a trash can The deer I hit flew and landed on the grass though lol. I won't even mention the close calls I've had with deer..
**** most of the average commuters that drive on twisty roads like this don't even care to stay in their own lane, just cuz they're scared to make a sharp turn.
