Straight cut gears are much stronger. The reason they're only used in racing applications is because they whine like crazy. Listen to any in car video of a racecar.
Ernie, does this go in a stock case and use the stock forks etc? Any special machining required?

i'd like to hear your thoughts about driving with this setup on the street. any reason you chose the dogbox over a sequential gearbox? HKS had one for around $6k i believe.
and yea, i've heard a vw with dog gears and they whine (formula mazdas). sounds like an electric engine or something.

The PPG dog box gears are helical cut and are stronger than anything else offered to fit our stock casing. With my power levels I need something I wouldnt have to replace every other race.
Check it out for yourself..

This is where I purchased it from. They are also doing the install.

Now why you are comparing squential to dogbox is beyond me because one is a type of engagement and one is a type of shifter.
Dog box refers to the dog ring engagement that both the ppg and hks box use.
Sequential means when you shift you dont follow the "H" pattern, you pull straight back to shift up and forward to shift down.
HKS makes both a H and sequential shifted dog box.
