Actually, they cut that groove out by hand with a small chisle and hammer, takes years of practice.

I believe they use a Haas vf302 unit.

Wire EDM might do it but side seals predate that technology by several decades.

True. Thinking of all the prototype work in the early years that pre-dates CNC. That stuff had to of been done on manual machines. Talk about talent!

After seeing how they rifled the barrels of muskets with wood dowels and spiral slots in wooden stockes with a cutting tip its amazing were we come from!

But i thought the rotors were made by rotary elves!

return from orlando

We just got back from the PRI and the battle of the imports in orlando. Our car with the billet rotors ran very well. The car went down the track 5 times until we were eliminated on the semis. Our best pass was 5.1 with a 1.20 60 foot. We will load some videos later from the event on today.

The good new is that the rotors will be avalible for purchase in the middle of january for the drag racing application. For road racing, there will be some aggrasive testing starting on january and we hope to have them ready by the end of january.

Who will be the first 6 second car to go down the track and back the record with our billet rotors? We are now 100% sure that this rotors will perform and provide the power to break this record.

thank you
Edgar Perez

Sorry, but that is our secret, but you are correct there is no end mill that small. It took us one year to find a way to cut this.

Congrats Edgar and the crew.

So, can you give us some prices on the rotors 12a and 13b? Also, do these come with the counterweights?

Thanks,

Jarrett

My question to you guys . In the future are you going to try to get the weight down of the rotors any further.

Billet rotors

The price of the Rotors are set at $4000.00 and they will come with the RX8 counters. We will offer the customer the option to balance for an additional cost. This price will be the same for the 12a and the 13b. Some might think that the price is high but if you take a look at the price that racing beat has on there light rotors. You will find that the best deal is ours. We are still lighter and our increase of power is just incredible.

Our goal is to get to the 5 pounds but the problem is the counters. We have to create our own. Our rotors now weight 7.1 pound our next test set will be at 6 pound and then 5 pounds. We hope to have this done in the next few month.

Excuse my ignorance, but i'm assuming that is $4k for a pair, not just 1, right?

I will be running in the 24hr of lemons in the end of February and will be running a rotary very hard for a good 13 hours.

If you want a good test engine i am building one just for this endurance type road race. I am willing to use the rotors in the motor.

Just a thought

24 hours of lemons? That will be one sour race!

Are there any solid before/after dynos yet?

Do you have any comments on rotor tip strength, the reliability issue witht he apex seals beating open the rotor?

Testing in an environment like that instead of 20-30 minute sprints are the kind of results I'd be interested in.
