I am a freakin bracket racer!

went to the midnight drag racing hoping to better my 6.89 pass.. No go on that but I ran 6.92 @104 three times! Not proud of the times but I am getting consistant as hell! I have serious issues out of the hole with tire spin. I was almost in the wall sideways on one pass. Was running 12psi on et streets. I know the stiff coilovers I have are most of the problem but I am affraid they also are whats saving me from breaking the diff since they allow so much wheel spin. I want to post some charts off the datalogic if I can ever figure how too. Need some help getting quicker!

Oh, Hinson Super cars "Lane" was there with his white LSX FD running slower than me..... Also had his buddy there turbo LSX that had issues. Both came and went on trailers but I drove mine!

How were your 60fts?

Also, how fast were you moving when you almost hit the wall?

YES!!! u sent those v8's home with their tales between their legs.

ABout the diff. Blitzboy, did a kaaz 1.5 with a larger capacity greddy diff cover.

ANd he has not broken anything. HE runs mid 10's
Seems better than going straight axle or IRS swap.

1.59-1.62's havent even went back to the logs to see what rpm I launched.

Also, how fast were you moving when you almost hit the wall?

It was 2nd gear wheel spin. Car kept going left and I wasnt letting off... I was on the shoulder . I have video of that run but its way to bad quality wise to post.

Another thing I found was I had loaded an old map that had rpm cut at 9k. I hit it everytime in fist gear until I realized what it was...

How long have you had your car that you have made it that fast? What would you say cash wise into it? That must cost a bundle. I don't think my car could be that fast with the 12A.

I guess it all comes down to time and money. I'd guess you could buy 2 or 3 LSx motors for the money that's in your rotary, and the time you'd spend driving it instead of replacing it when it spits an apex seal out the exhaust.

I have $1500 in my DIY short block. You telling me I can buy LX motors for $500 now? No down time as I have 2 spare cores in the garage... The funny thing about last night is there were 3 FD's and one FC present. Only one was rotary powered (me). The others, LX motors. Autos, transbrake, 2 steps, nos, all came and went on trailers......2 broke. LOL.... I personally like all cars and motors but the silly guys that cant make reliable power on rotaries crack me up with there rotary **** talk................

BTW.... your 350hp sounds cute!

That's funny, when he just said that the two other LSX's went home on the trailer. I don't like when people put v8's in rx's. I just don't get it. If you want a v8 then go buy a mustang or camaro. If you want a rotary, then buy an RX- it's that plain and simple.

Great job Mike there is nothing like haveing guys with v/8's saying yeah but you have a rotary!

You do need to soften that *** end and just keep some spare parts.
I picked up some extra axles and have another diff ready to bolt in.
I have to put up a better time or im going to get bumped!

Love hearing about you at the track.

Thanks Busted...

Here is a crappy pick of one of the 6.9 passes. Boost, MPH, rpm . You see my RPM isnt consistant until 3rd gear. 1st and 2nd its all over.

Really $1500? That is a factory short block in that? That's pretty cheap, you must perform all machine work (if any) yourself? What size turbo? and what is your fuel management again? I might have missed that. I supposed with so many v8 swaps you you must be able to pick up rotaries for a song?

i dont get all the hate ..you build what you like if its rotory cool if not oh well ..i hang at the track with the jpr guys (turbo tommy ,derrik ,jim ect..)there is always ball busting about the cars but you build what you like tommy and derrik are both flying with drivers 9.6 and 10.20 i think ..
but the fact of the matter is if you want a really fast more reliable car, a small block chevy or big block chevy just cant be beat .when racing its about the cost vs the maintenance ratio ..
not to say rotory arent fast but not many are going 6.40@225 mph in a 3000 lb car with a few seasons on the same motor making 3000 hp like the 10.5 outlaw cars ..

Bought a $500 used short block and all was usable. Paid $440 for seals and $400 for oem orings and such. $150 for balancing center section. Ported and built myself. gt4094 turbo, 1000's and 1600's on q16.

No hate on my side with any cars. Like I said before I like them all when built right they deserve respect. All most everytime I am at the track I am hanging with piston guys (was with a supra guy last night). But to say v8's are the only way to go? What fun would that be if everyone was doing that? Sure a lsX is a very stout motor and will usually last much longer but I have scene everything fail if you are racing. There were many going quicker than me last night but I am pretty sure I was the quickest car driven there! Whats more impressive? A 2 rotor (not mine) going 6's and 7's in the 1/4 or a v8? Also is it was all about whats the fastest most reliable car wouldnt we all be running solid rears and auto's?

Lol how did this thread turn into a Rotary Vs V8s??? haha

Its what anyone prefers to put in their car their choice, personally if I wanted a V8 I buy an american muscle car, but I wanted an Rx because I luv the look of them and I like the amazing reving 80 cubic inches rotary engine.

In terms of reliability of the Rotary, if all your ancillaries are correct and the tune is good a Rotary will be as reliable as any other high powered engine.

I have done over total 80 drag passes, 64 passes in the 11s, 16 passes in the 10s, 10000 miles on the same built engine, no breakages

Are you still on Stock diff?, go for a 1.5 way diff then you can soften up the rear shocks and watch your ETs come down with the better launch, go Rotary

To make a LS1 in an FD go 10 seconds, I'd have to be either turbo, or fully built, which would cost you 15k plus the cost of the car to do it right.

I am going 11's on stock turbo's with my rotary, my next setup which will put me into the 10's costed me $2000 more.

There is nothing wrong at all with V8 FD's, but there sure is something wrong with ignorant people who think they know what they are talking about when in reality, they don't.
