Burnt up my full face act clutch shortly after getting this car to hit 500s. Haven't even got to run it down the quarter yet. My friend can get act clutches for cheaper than retail so what clutch do you guys recommend? Xtg6?

 

I recommend my like new (no more than 50 miles on it) condition exedy twin carbon disc for 1850 shipped to vegas

416tq is a nice number, but nothing ridiculous. A usual 6-puck will keep it for a while. If you like to be on the "right" side, I would recommend you an OS-Giken twin plate like TS2B or even better the TS2C.

I didn't have any issues with my xtg6 @ 600rwhp

Dyno'd 587rwhp @ 28psi and it held fine at 32psi, roughly 630-640rwhp by my math.

 

What rpm are you launching at with it?

 

Ram sintered iron disk and ACT Extreme pressure plate. 600 whp, launch at 8500 with ~8-10 psi boost. No issues. The ACT puck disk worked just as well but we needed to change clutches when the G-Force box went in.

If I had to start all over, I'd probably look at McLeod's Drag Mag twin disk package.

 

We have found multi disk clutches hold up to higher power for much longer. Nearly all of our customers making over 500whp are using the Exedy Twin disk. It is far more durable and the pedal pressure isn't anywhere near that of the ACT XT, which puts a lot less strain on the clutch fork and the hydraulics system (and left leg)

As a side note we do install the ACT monolok wedge collar in the Exedy pressure plate.

 

I ran act 6 pucks (solid) for years with extreme pplate and stock flywheel. I would usually get 3-4 track events before they would start to slip. I still have a new unused disk and extreme plate I can sell. $500 shipped

Yes.

I have single sprung 6 puck/act extreme pp in my FC and Exedy twin sprung 6 puck in the FD.

I much much prefer the lighter pedal/broader engagement point of the Exedy twin plate. It is truly no problem in traffic.

Do your research when deciding on disk material. I can't see Carbon working for daily or drag. It is perfect for a real circuit car though.

Also, get the clutch you can get the parts for overnight.

 

I'm used to the ACT Extreme plate so I don't even notice when people tell me it's heavy.

I daily drive my car too, well when it's running.

 

I ended up ordering xtg6. Was going r6 but the sales guy convinced me the sprung will be easier on the transmission. Found some 26x11.5 et street tires used for sale locally for 200 but I heard the 10.5 will be better for my power range. So might be ordering two new 10.5s this week with tilton clutch flow valve
