Supposedly can use factory knock sensors. Has anyone ever used this before?

You'd be better off with the bosch-style sensor that comes stock in the J&S kits. I wonder if you could data-log it?

edit: there is an output on the knocklite, likely a 0-5v style or something. A nice alternative to the J&S setup that's for sure.

Hmmm. Thanks for the reply, Trots. I'll look into it. Have any reason why not to use the factory knock sensor other than the fact they're factory and old?

No, i actually have zero experience with the FD3S knock sensor, so I'm just blowing smoke out my ***. Personal preference I guess, I like the design of the bosch sensor that bolts through a center stud for picking up vibrations, and I have an FC, so I needed a knock sensor, it came with my J&S. The bosch unit is also tried and true on race teams using closed-loop knock sensing, although i'm sure there is nothing really wrong with the FD sensor.

We have no specific technical data on the factory knock sensor. That's reason enough not to use it. The product sounds good though. The knock learning process it goes through is similar to what OEM's use. An Evo has a complex knock learning algorithm with sensitivity that can be adjusted by reflashing the factory ECU.

Nope never did. Have been eyeballing something else I found on eBay several weeks ago. I'll post it up in another thread here.
