Running Denatured Alcohol?

I have heard that if you run your tank down to almost empty, then add a gallon of denatured alcohol to it, will make you pass emissions guaranteed!

I guess the alcohol burns really hot and clean, yet your car runs.

Anybody tried this?

The alcohol makes the engine run leaner, since alcohol requires that it be injected in larger amounts to burn. It doesn't burn "hotter", and "cleaner" is debatable.

It will sorta work to make your car run leaner, if the reason it fails is because it's running too rich. If you're already running excellent, it could make you fail because you're running too lean.

Actually, denatured alcohol burns COOLER and cleaner, not Hotter. Best method i've found is to mix 5 gallons of gas with 1 gallon of Alcohol. It's best to have as little gas in your tank as possible, preferably on 'E'. On your way to the smog station, stop somewhere and make about 5 or 6 Hard 1/4mi runs back in an Industrial Park to superheat your Cat, then drive Directly to the smog place while your Cat is still hot. The Alcohol reduces nox and co2 in your exhaust. I got a buddy of mine to pass smog with his sr20det this way. Try it, all you can do is Fail. Remember, pass or you dont pay

I dont understand! Gas is crude base and Alcohol is water base fuel, they do not mix unless a quantity of aceton is added. How are you just mixing them together, or do you have differnt alcohol?

I remember a looong time ago I heard that if you bathe a rat in denatured alcohol for three months it's 50% more likely to get cancer.
Thought you'd like to know that......
