Unhappy Please help, everyone read!! NOS? Boost?

OK, everyone who reads this straight up thanks. I need some help. I've recently become financially secure enough to acquire a 93' RX7. I think the entire line of RX's are absolutley gorgeous, and yall that race and mod them are some of the coolest mother ******* alive. I need help however. I have NO idea where to start, how to get started, and not so much where to get the **** but how to install it and what it is. Where do i go to find a NOS kit? Where do i find more NOS? whats legal and what isn't? What the **** is boost?!?! How do i install it and all that great stuff. If anyone can help i'd GREATLY appreciate any and all help, feel free to respond to CAP32048@aol.com THANK YOU!!!!

Scott,
There are a million ways to skin the cat that you have described, if you can describe the expected performance you have, along with the intended use you have for the car someone will be able to help you. Boost and gas are your friends but also have their problems. Try a few searches on these threads and then post your requirements.
Regards and welcome- Anthony

1) dont do any mods for atleast 6 months

2) stay here and ask questions for those 6 months

3) PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT THE PEOPLE ON THIS BOARD SAY!!!! they are all very smart

4) this is an oppinion: upgrade the twins unless you wanna go over 450 hp. if you want more than 450 hp, go single.

What do you know about the RX-7? Do you know that it is turbo charged? If you do, why did you ask what boost is? Boost is you turbo PSI getting fed into the motor. How many milea are on it, auto or 5 spd? Do you know what model you have?

Give us a hp level, then we can try to reccomend a combo.(from 300-650) We can also address cost and reliabiltiy. The faster you go normally means more maintenance.
Boost= The pressure under which an engine is being fed an intake charge, in your case by the turbochargers.
NOS= At your level of edumacation DISASTER.
Go slow my friend, you will then be able to learn from the mistakes we have all made.

It's got 65.000 miles, 5 speed, FD. Driving experience is far and above not an issue, it's my specific mechanical knowledge of the RX7 that is in question. I'm not looking to get to mach2, but i'm looking for something ............. quick. Maintenance is also not a problem because once it's in and i've got an idea as to what it takes to make it work, i'm fine with it. Haven't signed the papers yet, so on top of everything else, any problems i should look for before buying and common Maintenance issues. Any truth to the overheating rumor?

biggest problem with overheating is the stock AST air seperation tank cracking it is the black plastic piece on the intercooler. I replaced mine with the aluminum one from Pettit racing. Do you have an R1, Touring or Base? Maintence is not a whole lot more than any other car alot of people change oil more often. Would also replace the fuel filter commonly not done depending on previous owner.

Are you sure it's the same person? His profile says that he is a pilot and part-time firefighter.

So, I have a question...

I always wanted to be a pilot, and was wondering what I need to get my ATP? Oh yeah, and what are those magenta-colored dashed lines on the map, you know, the ones labled like "3 W" or "8 E"?

1500 hours, and have to be 23. Any other questions? The person you spoke to earlier with the questions was someone i let use my name. He isn't a mechanical engineer, but is going through college to become one. I can vouch for that much. I thought there wouldn't be any trouble. I'm a CFIIMEI, working on my ATP. I'm an instructor near KRDU. If you have any other questions about flying or fire fighting i'd be happy to answer them. I'm also working towards my A&P and working for my IA. I'm a part time Fire fighter near Raleigh, NC

Yeah, I still would like to know what the lines on the map mean, but that's OK if you don't know.

How in the heck did you manage to get your A&P and not know what boost is? Anyway, here is a link:

i didn't post that question. I didn't know what boost was however, but once someone told me it was a turbocharger, i knew all about it. not too mention generally few GA airplanes have them. and on your map question to be honest i'd have to brush up on my VFR map skills. If i remember correctly, aren't they lines of lat and long? plus, most things on a VFR sectional are magenta. there's a god awful number of magenta lines on one. describe the line
