That's a mod I do on all of my engines. You can also chamfer the edges of the pickup near where the oil pump lands but DO NOT mess with any of the flat edges or the shaft land for the pump!

Another trick is to slightly enlargen the gear bearing holes to match the oil galleys machined on the gears as, sometimes when pressing bearings in, they don't line up ...

It's a good picture of the portion that I did, Ted. I didn't do any other work on that front iron housing except the oil pickup tube.
