Oil Pan Brace
Oil Pan Brace
Hey, does anyone make an add-on oil pan brace? Moroso builds one into their oil pan
http://www.moroso.com/catalog/catego...?catcode=12119
but it looks kindof flimsy. I kindof wonder how well designed it is as it is an X-brace, but the motor only spins one direction. Anyway, just wondering if some has tried to develope something better than that. Thanks

Looks kinda flimsy???? How thick you wanting it man? The top flange is 3/8" thick billet alum AND has X bracing. What does the motor only spinning one direction have to do with anything?
It looks pretty damn strong if you ask me

Aluminum is stronger in tension than compression so why not setup the brace with one thicker support in the optimal axial position instead of two crossing supports which only have one on the best axial position? Every little bit of stiffening the engine helps, though I think I might be over thinking this.

its an oil pan, not an oil brace, as long as it keeps the oil from dropping out the bottom its doing its job. the tension bolts are what hold the engine together.
even if it was strong enough for en elephant to sit on, there is only so much force that could be transfered through the stubby little bots that hold it to the bottom of the engine anyway....

I've been thinking about getting the Groundzero/Pineapple Racing oil pan. From what I understand it not only increases capasity and acts as a motor stiffener, but the pan is O ringed. So that means that there will be no more oil leaks for the guys making alot of power.
There was a thread about the new pan....but I can't seem to find it....I'll try to dig it up later. CJ

When you have the Oringed pan do you still used any silicone along with it? It seems like in the very tiny cracks and slightly unever surfaces along the bottom of the engine you would get small leaks, ect with just a oring cause it doest fill in around cracks and stuff like silicone will.
