Hey JT, looks great makes me anxious to get my factory new engine and tear into it for porting and of course some 2 pc ceramic seals
I just got word that the new material seals will be about 10+ weeks in the making. To get the sizes I need and best consistancy in the material we are making a new mold. I am glad that it will only take about 3 weeks to make the mold rather than 3 months like I was origionally told but believe me it cannot happen fast enough for me. In the meantime I am getting a mess of 2mm and 3mm springs ready for when they are finished. At least for now I will have springs for both the 2mm and 3mm 2pc seals.

I would assume something along the lines of less heat Generated outwards of the chambers producing a slightly more efficient engine, also even less wear on the seals. Someone that has them should do a before and after heat temperature check from the outside (Pointing the infrared thermometer inbetween the leading and trailling plugs are and see what kind of heat difference there really is.

Will work for horsepower
Ive been running the housings for a year and i havent heat tested with hi tech temp testers but in general the motor runs cooler. The air temps with a 62-1 torbo pushing 20.1 psi are not much higher than guys with meth inj.
The water temps get cooler after after i run the 1/4, ill start at 180 deg and on the return road it drops to 175 deg.
If someone could give me a test to do i would be glad to give it a try. I also need to explain im running s4 8:50 coated rotors.
Im sure most of you saw it dynoed 494.1 on 93 pump only. This was on a duno-pac dyno. I am not into posting this kind of stuff for fun i was at a tunning secition and was running on the 20 lb spring and wanted Steve kan to log a run and see were it was him and i expected to see 460/480 hp but were surprised when it hit

The same amount of cermet applied as chrome thickness will last 5-7 times longer. I think the real benefit is friction reduction. Not to mention the cermet is a far better quality surface that is more impact resistant than chrome. Not completely sure but this should equate to less chance of chatter. Maybe someone can confirm?

NRS prototype micro polishing on rotary internals
Hey all,
I am in the process of rounding up a mess of engine/trans/diff parts from Gaby and a few others for prototype micro polishing. This will use the same process NRS developed for polishing the ceramic seals and hard faced springs. The difference being we will polish some of the parts to a mirror. Essentially we will treat each part somewhat differently depending on what we want to achieve for a finish and accounting for material type/hardness. These parts will be used in real applications.
This may include items such as: Rotors (yes we will try and polish into the apex groove), stat gears, e-shaft, all engine seals, transmission parts, diff parts (spyder gears, crown and pinion etc.), oil pump, pins, shafts, bearings......anything at all we can test.
For certain internals like oil control rings & side seals we really don't know if they will benefit or suffer from fine polishing but we will do them and find out. I guess what I'm wondering is if when polished will the oil seal still be able to cut it's trace and establish seat-in. Will a side seal seal if it's like a mirror? Any expert opinions on that? Anyway even if they don't seal correclty they can easily be removed from the equation.
Finish values achievable: RA= 0.01 micron - even from a 320 grit finish (RA=0.15 micron) or rougher (RA= 0.3 micron).
Stay tuned as I will post pics in the coming months when we get further along with this. It could take a while to organise and ship all the parts.

Hello All
As u requested a little update on dyno numbers with the NRS seals and E85. I hope it's ok to put it in our thread Sven.
The seals are sick so sick. The compression is realy good with the 3mm 1 piece seals on a BP engine. Im seeing 250mm/hg in vacum at idle at about 1800 rpm. Wich is quite good.
Due to backpressure on the exhaust housing we could not dyno the car above 5000 rpm since the boost just went over the roof. The T04Z with a 1.15 housing boosted 1.2bar at 3000 rpm. And did 370rwhp at 5000 rpm at 0.9 bar, before the boost started rising bad.
Were adding a second Tial 44mm wastegate and putting on a 1.32 exhast housing this weekend. And will dyno the car again within 2 weeks.
E85 is so easy to tune with. And u get boost so quick. And i will do a compression check on the engine this week i hope. The car was put on the dynapack after just 3 hours of engine run time.

2mm spring fixtures finished
Thank GOD!!! the 2mm springs are finally sorted and will be finished hard facing by the end of next week. You may know it's been long haul with the 2mm springs and you may not but I am extremely happy that I never have to think about them again We have a repeatable process and fixtures that actually work!
I guess sometimes going to the pro's first doesn't always pay off and doing it yourself does

My engine is being finished this week. New rotors and housings with the one piece 3mm seals. Im excited about getting everything togeather. Thanks Sven, for all your help.
