Max power output

I am purchusing a Turbo II (87-90) soon and am wanting to push it to its max. What all mods should i do to make it as fash as it can go?? Also what is the max output hp of this engine fully modded before it explodes??
Thanks

Depends. How much money do you have to spend, and how reliable does it have to be?

I'm sure if you had unlimited funds and only needed the engine to last for a few hours of running, you could get some insane amount of power out of it, easily 500+HP.

Somehow, I doubt that's the case. :-)

lol, you should really set up a step by step goal system rather then going for the highest point right away.... you're only gonna confuse yourself greatly if you do that....

For my current drift/dragger project, I shot for 270 HP at first....

All basic stuff here.... intake, a nice 3 in. exhaust, new gauges to make sure you're reading everything accurate, now would be a good time to think about either going stand alone or Piggy back too at this point.... if you're really going the distance, Stand alone is your best bet.... eliminates having a whole bunch of different things in your car at once (No need for FCD, that annoying Mass Airflor Meter can get tossed in the trash too, and it pretty much covers EVERYTHING you need the ECU to do when tuned right, albeit doing it at a costly price) otherwise a nice boost and fuel controller set will do you nicely (My pair S-AFC 2 and AVC-R for instance ), new fuel pump is a must... Walboro 255 will do quite nicely for now.... FCD (Only if you're going Piggyback) to stop your comp from shutting down fuel when the engine runs high.... All that alone should put you at, if not over the 270 line..... Also, you DEFINATELY wanna port your wastegate to get rid of the possibly of Boost Spike if you plan to run it hard.... Turbos going BOOM is no fun, indeed...

Next step, my 360-400 HP goal.... just to build a stronger backbone on your car, you want to start doing upgrades to the simple things.... like setting up for higher oil pressure, upgraded clutch for smoother shifts, making sure EVERYTHING is in good to great condition, a rebuild and port job would do wonders, etc..... More power is fun and all, but if things aren't in check you're gonna be screwed later on down the road.... Bigger fuel injectors are needed for sure (i've been told 1600cc secondaries should more then compensate for around this level and more), better BOV would be nice.... Definately wanna move on to a FMIC, if you plan to run high boost and keep your car from turing into a time bomb..... upgraded radiator to keep things cool and fresh.... maybe to free up space, go for an E-fan if you wish and dump the stock one? Also, changing out the turbo is a great idea here since you'll be nearing the limit of the stock.... you could just upgrade the compressor and housing if you wanted, but since you want high power, you'd just wanna get it outta the way now and do the damn thing.... lol

That's pretty much as far as I got so far, minus the intercooler, fuel injcetors, rebuild and turbo change.... I could tell you more later once I get to that point.... and i'm sure I left out a thing or two extra on what you should do, but it's basically just maintenece stuff....

If I remember right, it's pretty much straight up to something like 500 or so if you have SOLID mods... after that, you might as well decide on if you wanna invest in a Cosmo to go any higher and be safe while doing it....

But it's all back to square one from there, if you do.... it's kinda like a never ending cycle of getting bigger and better.... two to three, and if you're crazy enough, three to four....

Sorry for the long *** post, but I figured I could help...

Thanks alot man
I was thinking about going with the 13B-Re cosmo engine swap into a Turbo II but it would just cost me too much money. I dont know if it would be worth all of the cost and hard work, then again i could be sadly mistaking.
Thanks

Actually, you don't really gain HP at all.... the car's definately lighter, if anything else... but now that it draws off your car's power, it has a very small drain on it.... nothing TOO big, but I can tell you it doesn't add HP for sure... lol

lol, I was wondering if you knew who I was... But yeah, found out my lazy *** friend didn't send the check out yet!! I'm going to mail it out MYSELF right after work if not in the morning....

Sending cash through the mail is so tedious, so i'd be better off just sending funds via Paypal and at least KNOW they got there.... But you probably have your reasons for not using it, so I won't ask lol

anyway, there'll be no excuse for me if you don't get it out today or tomorow, so now worries now.... again, sorry again for the wait

lol, as least you know it's not hard to find me...
