HUGE LETDOWN rear end question
HUGE LETDOWN rear end question
After a while of taking care of bullshit I finally got my car in order and running great. This is the reason I have this car. The last time I when to the track the car ran 12.3 on stock twins. I switched to a t04s tuned it for 15 psi, and I know that my next run at the track should be in the 11,s because it freakin crazy fast. So you know I'm excited. Go to the track last night, launch the car at 5500-6000 slip-drop type. The only thing that dropped was my diff. This SUCKS. I know it happens so get over it. But the question is what is next, what rear end is going to be stronger, and how much is it going to cost me. Thanks
Gary Sorry to hear about the rear end. Kaaz is part of the answer, but you probably should consider upgraded axle shafts also. Art, from KC, tried an experiment with his stockers after he bought the Kaaz. He drew a straight line along the top of the shafts with a marker...ran a couple of relatively hard passes and pulled the shafts..1/2" twist on the lines. He replaced the shafts with upgrades and there has been no further incidents.
Good Luck

Sorry to hear about your rear end. Well I guess it's time for me to look into the kaaz as well. Who knows when my rear end will go. But cant the T2 rear end hold up to a lot more abuse then the stock rear end of a FD3S?

I'm going the TII Diff route as well. What good is all of this horsepower if you can't launch
?
Gary.
The s4 rear end from the 2nd Gen Turbo II and is from the 87-88 series rather than the 89-91 year models.
Check out the TII shop manuals at www.iluvmyrx7.com for attachment points etc.

If I get a second gen rear end do I still need to replace the diff with a kaas. also, Eric if you see this tonight call me, I couldn't get the rear end apart. I'll work on it Wed, but I dont think it will be done in time to come over.
I just looked at the shop manuals for the 88 diff and it looks totally different. I dont see an attachment for the power plant frame, it look like a different attachment for the half shafts and different frame bracket. If this somehow works I want to know.
