HUGE LETDOWN rear end question

After a while of taking care of bullshit I finally got my car in order and running great. This is the reason I have this car. The last time I when to the track the car ran 12.3 on stock twins. I switched to a t04s tuned it for 15 psi, and I know that my next run at the track should be in the 11,s because it freakin crazy fast. So you know I'm excited. Go to the track last night, launch the car at 5500-6000 slip-drop type. The only thing that dropped was my diff. This SUCKS. I know it happens so get over it. But the question is what is next, what rear end is going to be stronger, and how much is it going to cost me. Thanks

What is the problem, is it the internal parts that break first that cause the case to break or is it the case that is weak. Also where can I buy a casing? Thanks

It's the internal parts that come crashing through the case.

Gary Sorry to hear about the rear end. Kaaz is part of the answer, but you probably should consider upgraded axle shafts also. Art, from KC, tried an experiment with his stockers after he bought the Kaaz. He drew a straight line along the top of the shafts with a marker...ran a couple of relatively hard passes and pulled the shafts..1/2" twist on the lines. He replaced the shafts with upgrades and there has been no further incidents.

Good Luck

Jeff

Kaaz, it'll take whatever you throw at it.

Kaaz is stronger in deed but taking whatever you throw at it is not exactly true. They've been broken.

I should have worded it better, yes it'll break, but so will anything depending on what you do to it. It'll hold upwards of around 450rwhp without much trouble.

Sorry to hear about your rear end. Well I guess it's time for me to look into the kaaz as well. Who knows when my rear end will go. But cant the T2 rear end hold up to a lot more abuse then the stock rear end of a FD3S?

Sounds interesting, by the way what is a s4 t2, and how much work is it to get in.

I am not sure on what it takes to get the s4 to fit in or FD's but I think it just might be a straight bolt in. I guess I will find out.

Hey Eddie,

I'm going the TII Diff route as well. What good is all of this horsepower if you can't launch ?

Gary.
The s4 rear end from the 2nd Gen Turbo II and is from the 87-88 series rather than the 89-91 year models.

Check out the TII shop manuals at www.iluvmyrx7.com for attachment points etc.

Jeff

I just looked at the shop manuals for the 88 diff and it looks totally different. I dont see an attachment for the power plant frame, it look like a different attachment for the half shafts and different frame bracket. If this somehow works I want to know.

Just the internals. You reuse your case. Click on the link in Vosko's add--there is a pic.

So basically you're replacing the superior, but weak torsen LSD, with the stronger, clutch-type LSD. Isn't the KAAZ also a clutch-type?
