Engine Torque Brace
I am planning to make my own brace using one of those adjustable braces those HONDA guys put under the car in the rear , question is , after looking at pictures I cannot see clearly if the mounting point on the engine is on the rear side of the upper intake manifold where the hoist attachment and grounding wire ( thing ) is bolted on , the car is an FD by the way , can anyone varify this ? .

Exactly , you mount it where the hoist hook and ground wires attach to the manifold. The spot on the other side is directly across on the firewall and is already available. 10 mm studs on that side should do it.
did i hear HPI? check out there site on www.jouleusa.com drop me a email if interested in anything

is there anything wrong with running one of these braces without some kinda of dampner?
i made one that runs from where the stock smogpump bolts on to the waterpump housing. and then runs over to the strut bar mount.
i would have to take a pic to show what i did. so far i have not seen any problems with it. but wanted to make sure.
thanks,
James

now dont laugh to hard at my ghetto brace..
it cost me $2 in parts.
i welded in a nut on each side in the eyelet part and ground it down.
it works for now, and did not cost a lot.
i might make a diff one to mount to the back sometime.

i did not know if it ws a bad place to have it mounted, but it seems solid

Well for one, your engine doesnt move around when you gas it. More direct torque feel. Also if you have ever missed third gear this helps a little bit in that regard.Only negative aspect is the vibration you get in first gear or idle, you get used to it but its noticeable. Btw I made one using 2 dollars worth of parts from home depot.
