Engine Pic's(The Pro's will appreciate)...

Hey guys. My car is coming along nicely. Ray Wilson of PFSupercars will be porting my motor and the assembly. He will be able to clearance the engine very tight due to how rock solid the engine will be from the Guru Motorports oversized (1/2" engine stud kit) and Guru Motorsports E-shaft. Pics are the engine stud kit (note how much larger they are compared to stock). This will all but eliminate flex, which can happen at very high boost. Major Props to Ross Machine. Tom Ross (http://www.rossmachineracing.com/)did all the machine work which was very involved, that included the drilling and tapping all 18 studs as well as the center bearing for the custom E-shaft. All this along with my new PPG dog box will allow me to put the power to the ground. Hope to be pounding asphalt very soon!

A couple more. Its been awhile, but now everything is coming togeather very nice. Ray has done a great job with everything from fabrication, porting, to the tuning.

Nice Ernie. I've got the stock stud replacement from them since I wasn't building quite the monster you are. Studs not quite as big, but still bigger than stock.

Hmmm...even though someone else called them "bolts", that stud kit wasn't what caught my attention...

I was looking at the pic of the center plate.
Hmmm...some secret porting?
No, ports look mild or even stock...
HOLY SARDINES BATMAN! It's a fricken' center bearing retrofit!
Checked the pic of the e-shaft - Yep, e-shaft machined to accept the needle bearing center.
Did Guru give you a claim of how high you can spin the motor???

Yep, I called them "bolts" even though they're studs. Big deal. Anything else you want to be subtely yet overly critical about?

Ted,
The guys at Guru said they have people running the PPort motors with them spinning as high as 13-14k. Obviously I won't, but its nice to know I can't really over rev it...lol...And as of now, there isn't any porting. Everything is on its way to Ray now for porting and assembly.

If/when the time comes you need replacement studs let me know, I keep a bunch here. The studs are nice they just add some time to assembly.

Wow, very nice with the center bearing. You mind me asking what that cost and what all is involved. 13-14k is amazing, that is almost as much as my street bike!

Its a bit pricy, but worth it IMO...With shipping it was around $2500 for the E-Shaft (comes with the center bearing), and oversized 1/2" stud kit.

You must be talking about somebody else. I havn't blown a motor in more than 2yrs. If you have nothing to contribute, don't post on my thread.
And not that its any of your business, but Kevin (FD3 Virgin) on the forum has my old motor. I wanted to build something I could boost over 40psi. Can you do that with your motor?

Hey Ernie, it is important to put some RTV on the rear stud threads, washers, etc. If not you may get coolant weeping through. Enough to be a problem. Also don't over torque them. It wont give you any benefit and it will just preload the fastener too much.

Wow... Do you know of anyone else running a setup similar to your (new) one? I've really never seen anything like it (with that E-shaft mod etc.)

Any clue as to what type of porting you'll be doing?

It never seems to amaze me as of late the number of haters that are out there.
Some just never care about the positive results or what it takes to get there. But the moment they have a chance to redicule and add notting but negative comments they jump right in and make a stupid remark. And it's always the ones who have no clue what it takes and have never done it or better yet just because they can't then no one else can.
All you bench racers and keyboard innovators etc. should thank Ernie for sharing his motor build-up pics for the rest of the world to see and learn from. You dont see anyone else in here at that level of success and performance doing the same. Most others including myself tend to kepp that information hidden to a certain extent.
Keep up the good work Ernie.
