Damn front pulley bolt

Don't know where to bitch about this so I'm throwing it in here. Just picked up a new impact gun. 800 ft/lbs of torque. Front pulley bolt wont budge. flywheel is locked in place too. This thing is an animal and it just wont come loose =[

gonna try to torch it tomorrow a few times and hit it again. got too late, didnt wanna **** off the neighbors... hopefully i wont have to take it to someone w/ a 1600ft/lb gun cuz i hate carrying around motors =]

Honestly what I would do is use a 6 point socket on the beefiest breaker bar you have with a 6 foot pipe on the end. Then just jump on it!

It will come loose with a huge KKEERRR----AAAACKKK!!!!

get it hot, put 6pt nut on, w/long wrench..and beat wrench w/a big hammer. I know it sounds hack, but it does the trick.

dont forget the 6 foot bar bolted to the flywheel to keep the motor from turning

Try bigger gun...
If that don't work, heat the bitch up - releases the threadlocker.
Heat to cherry red and then knock it off with the big gun always works!

Nastiest one was J-spec 13B-REW from an FD.
Torch + 1" impact took it off.

Depending on the brand of impact you have, a lot of them are way over rated. The IR titanium I have has 1000 ft-lb of breaking torque and I have not encountered a nut I can't remove yet. If you think the e-shaft bolt is tough wait till you have to remove the flywheel nut.

That's the 4 lb weight unit, isn't it? I sold that gun, I found it underpowered for its rating.

You really should only be using short 6-point sockets for this kinda duty!

Long sockets, even though impact, scares me!

long socket is only way to get to the base of the bolt.

you need one guy to sit on it while you crank it with a huge breaker after heating. Sometimes you need like three people to get this done.
