Yeah....same thing happened to my friends FD after having it tuned by XS Engineering.

The rear end just fractured....just like that.

Have you already changed over to an FC tranny? The housings on the FD seem to fracture....need to reinforce it. Especially if you are pumping more than 500hps.

Still running an FD Tranny, How are you supposed to reinforce the diff housing, kinda hard to do much welding with cast metal.. Anyone know a way or have any pic's...?

Sorry...not the diff housing. It is the diff assy itself that you will need to modify. You will need a stronger ring and pinion. We have not yet tested it.. Keep the 4.10 diff...you can modify it to a 4.3...but you might not like it.....

Went to the Auto salon, came back last monday and my parts were here, built the engine tuesday, put it in last wednesday, broke it in last thursday, started tuning in last friday and saturday with the datalogit...

That was a 4.3 final by the way, but it didn't fail, the diff case split from the tork on the power plant frame... kinda pissed about the final gear getting trashed in the process though...

Hmm...

By my calculations, it would seem that your differential's modified statistics are somewhat less than optimal.

I would recommend returning to the idea of using a one-piece differential housing for maximum transmission of power to the pavement.

Sorry, i couldn't resist . In all seriousness though, that really sucks. Congrats on getting enuf power to do something like that

Good luck!,

I estimate 0 RWHP.

But seriously... OUCH! I'm surprised the axles didn't give way first.

Yeah, I've seen that before. The guy who rebuilt my engine did that and shot a 4.3 gear too! He wasn't that happy ... but at least he could say he was putting down some power!

Well she's all fixed and better now, with a 3.9 final gear.. The Cusco diff was fine and is happy in it's new diff case... Here are a few more pic's of the aftermath...

Also does anyone know of any way to reenforce the diff case so this doesn't happen again???

I think Ari Yallon has done some bracing or something on the outside of the diff for his drag car. I don't have pics, though. Anyone?

She seems pretty happy... opened up the exaust port up anouther 2mm and out anouther 1.5 on each side..

There arn't any good dyno's on Okinawa to check the actual HP #'s

I was going to build a bridge, but I decided against it.. The Base MP's/SP's are starting to get back into **** mode again and I have to drive my car to work every day threw the gate... You'll see when you get here...

Drag you over to base vehicle reg's and then they give you tickets for what ever isn't Inspection Legal, I've heard of some cars actually getting impounded on the spot... It's just depends on the MP, some of them are pretty cool, some are asses...
