60mph - 120mph

I wanna start a little survey.

Next time you guys are out on the highway.

Have someone time you from a rolling 60, punch it till you hit 120.

Last time I did this, not using a real timer I got 6 seconds.

one one thousand, two one thousand, etc.

whatever gear you choose. most likely starting in third and ending in fourth.

But post your fastest time. I'm just curious to see.

Wouldn't a gear change cause inconsistant times as some people will shift faster or slower than others. I would think that you could get a better sampling of times if it was done in say 4th gear only.

Ok, my rolling test result is 6.5seconds for 60mph to 120mph

I did mine "start" in 3rd gear (4550rpm) and went "finish" to 4th gear (6550rpm) to get the speed required, the gear change (time not accelerating took 0.5 sec on the data log.

My specs are as follows, car weight 1070kg + driver 70kg, car (engine) power 500bhp.

Inconsistency, just like on 0-60 times.
But would that keep you out of ideal boost zone?

I think this means I need to use a real timer. You're putting out 500 bhp and getting 6.5 and me at 300rwhp at 6 makes me look like a complete and utter fool.

It is out of my engines ideal range, which may account for my slowish time for my power level, I had to adhere to your test condition !

My power is REALY strong from 6000rpm to 8500rpm, so starting from such a low RPM in 3rd (for my engine) set me back a little in that particular test...Normal when I shift from 2nd to 3rd my revs drop back to around 5800rpm so I am rarley out of my engines BIG power/boost/torque range.

Excuses Excuses
