I have been around for a long time too and never heard of a 5mm. However, I`ll heard of 2mm, 3mm, 3.5mm, 4mm and 6mm.
evil7.com I believe was using a 4mm in there 20B PERIF. Turbo.
I know that mazda specialist manufacture these sizes too...check their web site.

idk , i heard it from a guy that runns a performance shop , maybe ill just try to get in touch with the kid selling it, thanks for the info though, would 5mm be better for "short term" extreme performance" or would it just be just ridiculous and not really bear any good effects?

hurleyrotary.com sells 4mm duplex seals and 3.5 long life seals.
(click on the seals and tip seals, look through them all, several very intersting seals they make/sell)

They needed to be, given that they were made of the same Carbon-Aluminum material that race seals are made of. You know, the seals that are weak as hell and don't last very long. Mazda hadn't yet figured out how to make the housing surface last with a longer-lived material, but they had to throw *something* into production (some weird clause in the Wankel consortium agreement) so they went with what they had. And took six years to put something better into production.
