13b RPMs

Hey guys,

I have a single turbo PP 13B motor. It is properly tuned, and i believe it is tuned on the safe side. I am wondering what are the highest RPMs I can take the motor.

Thanks,

Chris

That depends on what internal modifications were performed to the motor.

******"10k rpms"******

^^^Bad BLIND answer^^^

Like what drago86 said, it depends on the internals of the engine. To run higher then 8500 RPM safely and RELIABLY you need extra clearances (EX: rotor width needs clearancing, rotor and main bearings need extra clearance, eccentric shaft needs tapering), hardened stationaries, locked rotor gears, higher pressure oil (110 psi), windowed bearings, and suitable apex seals. Without knowing whats in it I'd stick to a 8500 RPM redline. Besides, its a freakin P Port TURBO, you should be making able power assuming your turbo is spec'ed correctly. Have any specs on the turbo?

Not blind brother! I have many friends who's cars are running PP turbo or NOS. Seen them go 11k with that set up ^^^. Now weather or not this perticular engine can do it is a diffrent story but if one would turbo a PP 13b, one would only guess that all the internals are set up for such an application. So if logic serves me correctly ...... my answer stands! 10k

If its stock internals dont go over 8500 S5 or 8000 s4.

Stock internals are not suitable for the power curve of a PP motor, the power peak will most likely be at 8.5-9k.

There's a big difference between a PP (peripheral port) and a race port. Sounds like the motor might just have an aggressive streetport. stock 8k redline for you!

I dont' think it's quite that low. I've seen 8400ish rpms with no problems, but I wasn't making power there so no need to rev it that high.

Umm... PP/T-78? Sounds like an unusually insane setup to be asking these questions... If I were you, I'd chill out and talk to the builder or previous owner to find out their recommendations. If what you're saying is true (and that thing has the correct mods), then you potentially have a crazy fast Rx7 and you need to be careful with that thing.
