aww what the hell, back from the dead again.

quickest that's run me was a C5 'vette. said he had an intake/exhaust/chip i'm sure he had that done however i'm not sure i believe that's all. it did come out that he has a manual valve body in the tranny(you don't just go putting those in unless you have some work elsewhere...) and when i looked back at 110 he was only ~8 cars back. let's just say a good show from him.

another amusing event. i was at a Lancer Evolution meet that a friend had organized. I figured there might be a quick car or two and there was. quickest car there was a guy running 11.2's at 123-124(we were at the strip) on his last run he missed 3rd and put it in 5th, still trapped 118. afterwards we were all around and he was like "Anyone up for some 5th gear pulls" he was the quickest evo there so no one was but i was. he got this all high and mighty attitude and was like "Do you have 500 HP? And if not, why are you even talking to me" and laughed. i told him what i had and he stopped laughing. he consulted the other evo guys and came up with the idea of going from 45 with me starting in 3rd and him running all out which i was down for. he still ended up chickening out. funny thing is the only guy out with the ***** to step up and play was the slowest car there, best he got all night was 13.2@106 starting around 55-60 i put it in 5th and he was running ***** to the wall, he inched on me. by ~100 i was at his B pillar, we went at it like that 3 or 4 times with the same results, for our final run i dropped it into 2nd, let's just say he went away... all in all it was a fun night

Here are my two favorite kills while in my last FD.

FD favorite kill #1

It was a car club day drive with nice cool weather. The Rotary Car Club of Arizona got together with a local performance shop for a group drive out of town to a location for lunch. We then headed back after lunch.

The group consisted of a variety of modified and stock Rx-7s, Rx-8s, several cars from the performance shop and one Porsche 996tt with stage 4 components. On the way to our lunch location the Porsche spanked the fastest car of the performance shop in a rolling punch on the freeway.

While at lunch I spoke with the owner of the Porsche 996tt with stage 4 components, those being K24 turbos, exhaust, blow off valves, intake and computer set to 1.5 bar. He did have the smaller intercoolers which come on a base turbo however, not the X50 intercoolers. I wanted to see how my FD would run against his car, so we agreed to a 45 mph punch on our way home after a conversation of our cars. I'm a pretty seasoned street racer, so I knew I had to enhance my odds by staying out of boost before our run to keep intake temps down. I did just that and they were in the 40C range prior to the race. At the same time I encouraged the Porsche to show spirited driving to increase his heat. I also ran my FD down to about 1/8 tank of fuel for weight reduction. The Porsche driver had a passenger to put him around 3800 lbs. to my FD with me alone under 2800lbs. I knew I had a shot.

The Porsche Stage 4 and I were ready to run. My FD was with Power FC 12 psi, full exhaust with down pipe match ported to turbo exhaust manifold, stock air box set up for improved forced induction and light weight battery. We staged rolling at 45 mph, me in second gear. I indicated to go and let him nail it first and I hit it quickly after. Immediately I put about 4 cars on the Porsche, hit third and started to watch him in my rear view mirror until I hit around 125 mph. He was reeling me in, but didn't pass. I shut down. The kill was confirmed by witnesses and by the owner of the Porsche driver and his wife at the next RCCA gathering. The Porsche would have passed me if we had gone faster.

FD favorite kill #2

Another good kill while in my FD was against another FD with big single turbo, Power FC 15 psi, injectors, fuel pump, full exhaust, large FMIC and body kit. He claimed 450 wheel HP at his current settings. I beat him three times on the freeway after agreeing to racing at our local Saturday night Pavilions car gathering. At the time I still had the stock cat in my FD with interior welds ground flush. My Power FC was set to 10 psi with DP match ported to turbo exhaust manifold, HKS carbon ti cat back, stock air box set up for improved forced induction. The only point were the single turbo had a hint of a chance against my stock sequential twins was around 7000 to 7500 rpm when his laggy system would spurt forward for a fraction of a second at the top of each gear. I beat that single turbo badly three times.

Here are a couple of my favorite kills while in my Superformance Shelby Cobra with Roush 427R.

2 different Carrara GTs spanked them hard, rolling punches from about 45 mph.

Corvette C5 with built engine, twin turbos, methanol injection, and wet system nitrous oxide on drag radials. Standing start to about 120 mph.

before VW came out w/ the R32 I raced a VR6 GTI in my 1990 gxl. his car was stock and i only had an apexi intake and a rebuilt w/ 10k on it. I was on my way back from a local meet sunday night w/ my bro in the pass seat and my friend behind me in his 90 240sx w/ loud exhuast. i was the gti go past me but didnt do nething at first cuz they didnt instigate. my friend called and said when they passed his 240 they pointer and laughed so i agreed to take em out. i was in 5th and just caught up to them to get they're attention. after they noticed i wanted a race we took of from ~60 mph. i downshifted into fourht and then into 3rd real quick, held it to red and then into fourht. we raced from manheim pk to lincoln highway, about 7 miles. we were weaving out of traffic and going back and forth for a while. i don't like to weave too much w/ other cars on the road (especially since my paint was only 1 month old at that point) but wanted to see what it had. i never got into 5th but we hit about 130mph. when traffic cleared and i had anopening i pulled up to his door and right past with ease. he was cool about it and gave me thumbs up. i would have beat him sooner but he was drving far more recklessly than i do in my baby. i was still impressed that the vr6 did as good as it did. not bad but i was still proud i took it so easily in a pretty stock car.

This isn't an RX-7, but it is funny nevertheless.

My first car was an old hand-me-down nissan pickup with crappy tires, the extended cab, a very low power 4 banger, and 200K miles on it.

One night while I was driving home, I pulled up to a stop light next to a newer integra LS in a nasty body kit and a fart can on it. He started revving his engine and pointing down the street...not expecting to win, I still launched my truck on the green and pulled ahead. He pulled on me, but lost more than enough ground on every shift to let me move ahead of him. This basically ended with me laughing and pointing at him until he peeled out through a red light....

Crappy ricer drivers...
