For me it was a thunderbird supercoupe. He had some exhaust work, but thats about it I think. Still those cars run high 14s stock.. We raced from a light, and we were almost completely even, up to about 120 and his bumper was at my door, and we both shut down. Great race....

The funiest, and closest must have been this one :
I was sitting passenger in my `76 Capella Coupe. My brother was driving, doing about 50 mph.So this Z28 Drop Top comes from the back and rides our butt.I glance at my brother, and give the thums up.He goes to third, and i laugh.Second,go to second. So he sticks it in 2nd,and floors it.Goes to 6000,and wants to change,I look at him and say : Your not changing now,go to 8000 !

Z28 was trying hard to keep up,but he couldnt. Beat him by 5 cars up to 100+mph.He went to the left lane, his buddy in the passeneger seat was laughing, the driver just stared in amazement.

`76 Capella Rs .
13B 4 port,racing beat header.Fb Dizzy.Custom exhaust.Heavilly modified nikki 4 barrel .(Bored chokes,huge jets,mechanical 2nd stage etc)

All from start to about 140

360 spyder
355 spyder
2001 Viper GTS, 2003 viper
Z06 super charged
1999 Diablo VT
1999 Turbo s and 2003 911 TT (modified), 2004 GT3
2002 Yamaha R1 (bad driver, but a win is a win)
1995 Supra T88, 1990 supra T78 with nos, and a twin BB tubonic something.( all were tuned like crap)

My closes race was to a highly modified 1993 eagle talon...I ran a 11.6 (I was on street tires) and he ran a 11.8.

Not saying much but, stock wrx with a aftermarket cat.
Enjoyed it, so much hype over a car that last almost half its power in its drivetrain.
oh yeah and a school bus with no passengers, had the stop sign pulled back as well.

I haven't really had too many problems with the people i've raced(and one against). The people I lost to absolutely beheaded me though.
The 2 closest races that were wins for me were:
1. I beat an NSX at New England dragway by 2 tenths. I ran a 13.2, and this dude was right behind me. I had a boost leak at the time, so maybe it would'nt have been as close, but who knows. I actually heard there was an NSX there thatr fit his discription running 12's. So, maybe i'm the lucky one.
2. I raced a highly modded 5.0 convertable from 55 - 150. That bastards headlight was at my door the whole time. Truly impressive. That thing was loud. I thought I was going to kill him easily, but when he stepped on it, the animal totally changed.

Modded 2003 Porshe 996 w/ headers, midpipe,CB,Chip, pulleys and intake. we ran to 177 and we were right beside each other, got off at my exit and so did he. He was at my back corner falling behind when we did it from a 5mph roll to about 60

Unfortunately this wasn't in an RX-7 but it was both funny and sad at the same time.

I was riding with a friend in his Conquest TSI. (Turbo 4 banger). The car only runs high 14's stock. Boost was turned up a little but still nothing very quick. We pulled up to a light next to a beautiful '95ish Porsche 911 Turbo. Beautiful car. I told him to throw a few revs at the guy to see if he would play knowing full well that we would be absolutely destroyed. The guy responds back with a couple of revs of his own and a little smirk on his face. Light turns green. Holy Batfuck Buttman!!! Where the hell did he go? Are we moving? We expected this though. He tries to really show off though by showing us how much is really in the car. Probably a quarter of a mile down the road from the start we see a huge puff of smoke out the back of the car and it just keeps coming. Guy pulls over. When we caught up we noticed oil everywhere all over the road and a trail going to his car which is now stuck on the side of the road smoking. I didn't know a car could hold that much oil. The guy somehow blew up his engine. Must have been modded in some way. We were laughing but sad at the same time. Nice car but bad luck.

actually the Super coupe T-Birds run about 15.5 stock, i have a friend with one, it has a pulley to make more boost, cold air intake, bigger IC for his SC, bigger AFM and some other stuff i dont remember, and he only ran a 15.1 at the last run we went to, elevation at the track is like 3500ft, which would probably make it a 14.6 at sea level. its auto, but i dont know if all of them are.

now, my best kills are 3 mustang GT's in my first 86 Base n/a, had a full intake/exhaust, working 6 ports, modded TB, lightened, and i ran 14.1's all day, all the GT's i raced were 99-01 and i would put a fender on all 3. other than that, no races worth mentioning

My best races were:

MKIV Supra BPU with fmic from 60-120 I pulled 1 car when I was running about 340-350 rwhp at the time with parallel stock turbos

With the BNR stage 2 turbos I had close races

1) Highly modded WS6 T/A LS1 6 speed from 60-90 I pulled 1/2-3/4 car and had to shut down due to traffic - we had the road wide open again and he wouldn't run me again

2) Some psycho late 80s or early 90s T/A with 3 people in it - car had numbers all over it from the track - looked like it had 295s on the back - we went from 50-120 - I started in 3rd which was bad since he had so much tork ("cue" doesn't work on keyboard) - he stayed with me all the way to 95 which scared me but then I put a good 6-7 cars on him in 4th gear - still impressive for an older car

3) Stock (looking) 02 Mustang GT Bullit from 70-130 I pulled about 8 cars but he stayed within 1 car of me from 70-100

You never know what you're going to run into these days. Cars could look stock or lightly modded then surprise you
