punked a pack of vipers

im not gonna make this story all long and drawn out like it was ill just get to the point. so im at this car show today and about an hour into a pack of 5 vipers(1 brand new srt10 vert and 4 2003-1997gts's and srt10s) roll in like they own the place and the guy next to me said that they do it every year and that they think their cars are the greatest and fastest cars on earth. after they had been there for about 10 minutes one of my buddies wants me to go over and talk to them to try and get a race for money. so i go over and start to talk to the owner of the new srt10 bc he prob has a lot of money to waste and he points me toward the owner of the 3rd car back for street racing who runs the fastest time of 12.2 in the quarter. I go over to the guy and start talking to him and he is telling me how fast it is and that he races it at the track and on the streets and he loves to spank imports. so i ask him if he wants to go out to the highway and run em after the show. he asks what i have and i tell him and as soon as i say 1993 rx-7 his attitude begins to change from cocky to cockless and by the end of the conversation he has to take his wife out to eat right after the show and isnt gonna have time to race me and refuses to meet another time. one of his buddies quickly says that he will race me if we do a mile instead of a quarter and when i quickly accept he changes his mind and says he is going out to eat too and that he doesnt live in the area(which he actually only lives 20 mins from me). It was pretty funny to see all these cocky *** guys turn into complete pussies in front of a very large crowd of over 50ppl. any of you guys ever had this happen?

Wait the minute. I think it's great that they have a respect for the 7 and didn't want to go head to head. If it was a civic or 350Z you probably will get a challenge.

I had a guy with a viper talk alot of **** about my 4cylinder. Ya he wasn't very smart, then he shut up when one of my buddys with a nice set up 7 sent him spinning on a lake road because he didn't know that vipers don't corner. My buddy said he probably would of beat him in a drag but they were on a curvy road and that seemed like a good place to **** with him.

So i say its true.

its a true story about 50 ppl witnessed it and it woulda been a decent race, i still run stock twins with upped boost and all bolt ons. i was gonna make sure we hit the part of the highway with a pretty decent curve bc i knew the area better.

bro, the 7's can't win viper on a straight road or quater mile, i've the chance to sit in 1 before and trust me, viper is 1 fast ****, especially with only simple mods, it can hit low 11's. Yeha i agree with you when it comes to cornering, is not as good compare to the 7's.

the vipers are quick cars you cannot afford a mistake. but on the other hand if you are setup well and tuned good. with the stock twins and perfect shifts you should be able to beat them. to make it eaiser on you go with a single turbo. go 15lbs make over 400whp then go race them. you wont regret it.

Vipers are fast, but, most guys wont drive em to their potnetial, there are two guys by me that think they are badass as well and they will mess with guys at stop lights, but on the highways, they wont do anyhitng, so, i think thats a great story, love heairng things liek that

The new viper pulls just over 1g (i.e. 1.03-1.06 depending on mag) on the skidpad; yet it can't handle?

What does a stock FD pull on a skidpad? .97? .98? .99? That's less that 1, last time I checked.

Oh, but wait, it's not a 7; so "it can't handle."

^pls dont ruin this thread with an argument over what car can handle better and what not the point of the thread is that 5 viper owners rolled into a car show like the owned the place yet had enough respect for an fd to decline a race bc they were afraid theyd lose.

That's a measure of tire grip, not nessicarily handling...

And I can assure you a set of viper tires cost more than the FD's.

I was at the local track with some buddies and the viper there didn't run any faster then a 11.50 1/4 mile. He may have been stock but when we asked him if he wanted to race for money he quickly declined. I guess he didn't like the stage 2 nitrous on my friends amc gremlin.

I'm confident thats a case of a bad driver. Vipers corner just fine.

To be fair, thats most likely due to the huge amount of rubber the vipers run stock.

Either way, vipers can handle just fine, and have the power to push out of corners quicker than most 7 could.
