Interesting. A 12.2 is no slouch by any means. The only reason that I can think of is that he had raced a highly modified 7 in the past and got beat. Now you coming up and challenging him would led him to believe that you also have a highly modified seven.

I think you would had gotten spanked HARD. Because all the boltons on stock twins and upped boost ain't much. That is unless you are grossly understating your mods. All the boltons mean different things to different people but certainly do not include an ECU, injectors, fuel pump. Which in turn those components play a huge role in how much boost you can actually run.

off the top of my head i have m2 cf intake, stock twins, pettit coolcharge smic, fluidyne rad with 2 big fans running constantly, downpipe, high flow cat, pf exhaust, m2 stage III ecu, fuel pump and i run about 13psi. suspension includes racing beat front and rear sway bars, performance coilovers, cusco strut tower brace, and adrs with 9.5rear and 8.5 front all tires less than 2000miles. im not saying i would have won but with the corners and curves i wouldve given him a run. i just thought that it was funny that their egos were so big yet they wouldnt race me.

thank you, now I have more of an idea of what you got It's always nice to know. You are easily at the 300 RWHP mark

I misunderstood, I got the impression that you thought you could beat that viper. My bad. Regardless I agree that it is pretty comical on how their story changed as soon as they found out you had an FD. I'm telling you there's an FD runing around in your area that spanked that dude... lol now he is traumatized.

from everything that i have read on this forum, yes .unless you are going for 500+ rhp and in that case, other race ignitions are more suited for higher hp applications.

The '93 RX-7 R1 posted a 1.01 lateral acceleration number which is the SAME as the new Z06 & SRT10 Viper Coupe. The RX-7 is handicapped by archane/inferior 1992 rubber (the R& T test was dine in '92 but the car was released as a '93 model). I believe with modern rubber (forget a footprint wider than a bike tire (225), say 275s), the RX-7 would EASILY exceed 1.01G.

http://www.caranddriver.com/bestcars...006-page2.html

As another poster mentioned, lateral Gs are only 1 measure of handling prowess. In any case, with modern rubber & perhaps lower tire profile, the RX-7 would likely handle just as well or better IMHO. I think after 13 - 14 yrs, we can equip the RX-7 with some modern ZR(Y) rated rubber & perhaps wider shoes.

the PFS 3 rotor fd did run a faster lap time than the lingenfelter vette a couple years ago in that supertuner shootout..It couldnt beat the vette in the straights and finished 2nd to it.but it does show that a fd can and will out handle a modern super car when the fds suspension and tires has been updated as well.

^ I agree, i've seen what happens when inexperienced drivers try to drive them to their potential. About a month ago, an 05 Viper was messing with some BMW near where i live, and somehow managed to lose control, go over the median and flip into oncoming traffic. Needless to say - fatal accident.

Stories like that really inspire me to stay under the speed limit. I'm so paranoid on public roads.

Not to be off topic, good "kill." And good for you for the Viper owners for being modest. They are ridiculously fast cars...

What does a stock FD pull on a skidpad? .97? .98? .99? That's less that 1, last time I checked.

Oh, but wait, it's not a 7; so "it can't handle."
r1 original-spec was 1.02g.
