now, race from a stop and see what happens! that should be a good race, because the light weight of the FD will pay major dividends, provided Rich knows how to launch his car, and I believe he does, based on his experience at the strip

not a very fair race at all, gloating that you beat someone in a highway roll when you are up 100+ hp is dumb....Mustangs are still incredible pos, they are hideous looking, and common as dog poop....I can make a VW bus go fast, too, but who gives a ****?

run him from a dig...
Weight is a bigger factor then aerodymics on this race....they started on 2nd gear !!!!

Back when I had my non-seq turbos running 123-125mph traps i was approached by a supercharged Cobra owned by Marc (well known East Coast street racer, now has Audi S4) and wanted to race his light modded Cobra against my stock turbo FD for some cash.
We lined up heads up on drag radials and he had me by a car length in 1st gear.
2nd gear I closed the gap. 3rd gear we were dead even and 4th gear I started to pull on him. Before shifting into 5th I was 3-4 cars in front and before he cut gas he claimed to be at 160mph and I was ~170mph with a 5-6 car gap.
After the race he had someone check my turbos to confirm they were stock...the guys 1st question: where's your other turbo ?????? almost died laughing.........
This Cobra had a cold-air system, x-pipe exhaust system, supercharger pulley, re-map ECU and gears......and had run a best of 11.4 @ 122mph !!!!!!!
One mis-shift in my part and I would have lost that race by a long shot !
Those Cobra engines are built for abuse they will make over 600rwh with out any internal mods.....possibly one of the best motors built by Ford.

I've learned not to under-estimate the car next to you....damn Cobra looked stock.

Agree.... they're having fun and I'm sure they will go at it again.

one thing is obvious...the fd lost. lol.

the video linked on this thread is a 15-16psi run. given he made 420 @ 17.5psi, i figured he was around 400rwhp for the race. which in my mind should be equal if not faster than the 1k lbs heavier cobra.

that raises a good question though, rich why werent u running full boost knowing you're going a against 500rwhp beast?

i guess we need a rematch...get out there!

i wouldnt mind a run against those bnrs at same psi to same psi to be honest. lets have some fd vs fd cannabalism!

i am not a fan of dig races with high rwhp cars on street tires. really all its gonna tell who is who hooked bette! From second gear its power to weight vs power to weight. thats the best test of acceleration in my opinion.

everything was fine until one guy showed up with personal attacks. he was looking for a fight its obvious. seems to me without his presence the conversation is going fine.

quite frankly i could give two ***** if rich won or lost. i just want to have fun and discuss it. beleive me i am one to say that the fd needs alot to hang with todays power cars like cobras and z06s!

So we both agree Rich was nowhere near ~400rwh or that Cobra is making more hp.
Then again, Rich claims his car was not running 100%....

Next time.......

Ihor: ever hit the scales with the Cobra?

Who cares who and what lost.

Important thing is that both cars are fast, they both had a good time and they posted it to entertain us.

I hate it when people go PMS just when an FD loses. I can only imagine like 5 years from now when more and more cars are becoming faster in factory form keeping up with single turbo FD's and they are still under warranty with 100 miles on the odo, what are they gonna say then??

No one is ever satisfied.

Guys, ihor's car is fast as ****. I shouldn't have been racing when I knew something wasn't right with the car, and I said as much before the race. There's always next time......
....with a single turbo

I don't think we're getting the full skinny

if one of the lead plug wires was truly "dangling"/disconnected, the car would hardly run....high rpm break-up I believe, spark plug wire boot not fully seated I believe....but not "dangling"

Just like I said before about there being no magic to tuning, there is none to porting as well. Anyone can do it with the proper know how and guidelines. About the plug wire... we gotta go again. From a dig is fine too.

I was wondering is there any FD at your hrosepower range around NJ? It would be a good race if you race an FD with the same power. If you can't find anybody there I surely can make one if you want to come to Kansas? Money=horsepower right?

It was one of the top plug wires, so trailing. Even after making sure that bastard was securely fastened, the damn car still isn't running right. Right at about 7k rpms it stops making power, so I have to upshift, which drops me out of my powerband. If I try and accelerate through it, it feels kind of 'lumpy,' not cutting out or anything but it just stops accelerating. AFRs are in the high 10s, so I don't think that's it. EGTs and Fuel px look fine too. Very frustrating.
