Fd Vs the Road
I was at a light tonight and i seen a buddy of mine roll up in his lincon. so i nodded at him and the light turned green, i was barly boosting and i smoked him... NP
But thats not why im posting this. we got up to the next set of lights and he asked me to push it a little so i said ok.
I starting revving around 6000 or so and the light turned green and i dumped the clutch and my tires starting spinning and it took a bit before i got traction
Now im a fairly new FD driver and my FD is stock on stock turbos... the cars stock lol
ANYWAYS back on track, HOw can i prevent myself from doing so much tire spinning and focus on a little more traction so when i do have to race somthing fast i dont just spin out all crazy.

P.S; Also are there any gas pedal/ shifting techniques i could use?

This happened to me alot, I would break traction on gear shifts all the way up to 4th. Just don't give it as much throttle when you shift. I know it sounds hard but unless you upgrade your rear suspension that's all you can do. Get wider (higher grip) tires.
When launching something has to give. If you just dump the clutch, your tires are likely to break traction. If you slip the clutch (yes, bad on wear) but if you slip the clutch you can hold it in the power band, and then make your shifts like you normally would, and then learn how you need to shift to keep traction without slowing down.
From what ive read, you want to launch at about 4-5k, and slip the clutch out (correct me on rpms if im wrong, I was reading around in the race tech forum one day and thats what I remember).
Aside from upgrades, just learn the feel of the car when youre launching and such.

I launch at 4800 and All I have intake's an cat-back so yea give it a shot on some nice pavement. Between shifts the best advice I can give is don't rush on the throttle thats all.
Launch at 4k or 5k or somewhere in between. Don't just dump the clutch, you're not in an AWD car. Feather it a little bit but not too much (Clutch pedal full out in under 2sec ought to allow you to keep traction).
Ideally you want a tiny little bit of wheelspin. That will let you know you're near maximum traction.
The other option is to buy a launch control unit for a few hundred bucks that will basically cut your gas when the rear wheels lose traction. It's almost like a traction control system but it won't really work for sideways traction loss, just launches.

LoL, I am more worried about the soccer moms in their huge SUV's that are talking on their cell phones and swerving all over the place. Or not check their insanely huge blind spot. They just change lanes and hope for the best.
Seriously, some people doing some spirited driving isn't nearly as bad as most of the drivers out on the road. Mainly the ones that don't pay attention to anything other then their phone, or that Big Mac they just got from McDonalds.
To the OP, feather the clutch.
big mac? psssh, quater pounder noob!
What happens when you combine an out of control soccer mom in a bigass suv with a little sports car going 100 :P ?
Every street racing thread sprocket seems to be preaching not to race lol, your not going to convince some one to not do it so it don't pay to try.

I agree with please don't race on city streets. Though, if some dumb soccer mom isn't paying attention, I hope she does get hit, and gets f*cked up good. She shouldn't be on the road.
To each their own. I pay enough attention to the road that I don't really care if people street race around me. I can see them, and I stay clear. When I am in my car, I am driving.
