Lightning vs WRX
I dont own a rx7 but hey, im here so ill post the story
Ran into a lightning I saw the other night. Gave it a couple runs, roll and dig.
Lightning has i/e/12ish lb pulley
wrx - vf34 injectors exhaust blah blah
He wanted to go from 20 so ok, 1st gear he honks
......1.........2.3 get him by 3 or so cars up to 100ish
Then he wanted a dig, never raced a lightning from a dig before so I said ok.
3 honks and we go, I gave it waaaaay too much clutch and had to let off the gas....then smashed it down again, got him by maybe 4? up to 70ish or so.
Fun runs nice vehicle and cool guy.

A nearly stock WRX beating a decently modded lighting?
With those mods, he'd be looking at easy 12s w/ a bad driver. Maybe an STi would win from a stop? not a WRX, especially not from a roll.
Oh and welcome to RX7club.com home of the worlds most logical nay-sayers.

LOL Maybe if the Lightning was sleeping. You probably beat some poser F150 with a Lightning badge, seems to happen alot.
If you only have injectors and exhaust like you claim, and he was running 12 lbs of boost, you would have had no chance from a roll. And 4 cars from a dig with a bad launch? sure..

As I said, it was probably a normal F150 with a Lightning badge on it. Lots of retards seem to do that. Not very likely it was a true Lightning running w/out the charger belt, no reason to do that.

Its not that it wasnt running the belt....they just didnt always supercharge the lightning...

Nah, those don't count LOL Sorry, when I hear "lightning" I think the 99+, and when I hear "Cobra" I think 03/04. The other ones just don't really matter much

okay guys, instead of just calling BS on him, why not try to analyze it... according to this site http://www.fordlightning.com/statistics.htm a stock WRX could take a Lightning to 60. stock WRX does 0-60 in 5.4s, Lightning does it in 6.2s. a WRX with a VF34 and supporting mods could do 0-60 in about 4.5s, if not a little faster. i don't know how the mods the OP listed for the Lightning will change its performance. however, i do know that the added power will worsen its ability to launch. from 0-60, it wouldn't be a contest for the WRX (with similar drivers). from 0-70, the Lightning would probably be catching up, but the WRX would still be ahead. did he take the Lightning by four lengths? i don't know, and he did put "4?" so there's a good chance it was less. but i don't have any doubts that he could take the Lightning.

My buddies lightning. He blew the engine a couple of months ago and is about $23k into a 650HP build on it with a new setup.
Don't think those pictures are up yet though!

hmmmm my friends sti put 350 awhp down with a gt35r (waiting till his water injection is in to take full advantage of the turbo) and with an easy launch he obliverated a lightning both from a stop and from a roll. IF that wrx is putting down the same power as my buddies sti, it's possible he took him by a few... 4's a stretch with a bad launch... but wrx's arn't reliable at that power, lack of forged internals and a weak gear box is scary
