bringing reality

one post at a time.

so I was directed over to your site (nice site BTW and an enthusiastic group of owners) about this video:

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=532663&page=9&pp=15

first your 400hp beat up on a dork on a less than 100hp and less than 70fpt girls bike. the guy short shifts as soon as he feels the front end start to lift.

then you talk about potentially taking a OEM Busa based on the last part of the video. uh... no. that bike was clearly a moderate POS. pipe, couple inch over arm. maybe 165hp & 100fpt if it has been tuned. He rolled you. he never shifted in the first two passes. when he did, you let off of the gas, but you saw him take off. no way you could hang. NOS wont cut it with a real bike.

OEM Busa is 155-160hp, just under 100fpt. 520 fully wet package (minus rider). thats about a .33hp:wt ratio. your 400hp and assumedly 2,800 lb (minus driver) is about a .07:hpwt ratio.

If you want to roll with some big dogs to see where you guys stand, feel free to email me. I have a few friends setting up some runs (closed road) with Vipers, 350Z, Vettes, 930, Supras with OEM, NOS and blown Busas. a blown gsxr 1k as well. Here is what we run. Streetlegal. 500+hp.

Some people were talking out of their asses and so the bike guys felt the need to respond...

I'm just happy I can't fall off my car at 80+mph. Props to anyone with the ***** to ride a monster like that.

I can't seem to access to link you provided, but...

At highway speeds, it's incredibly possible for a 400rwhp car to take a stock (you're misusing the "OEM" acronym, btw..) 'Busa.

Bikes are tons less aerodynamic, especially at high speeds, and weight advantages are far ousted by sheer horsepower at high speeds.

Now, I could be totally wrong, so try to be gentle. Provide me with evidence otherwise, races, etc FROM HIGHWAY SPEEDS, NOT FROM A STOP..

I'm just seeing the part about the Busa, after watching the vid.

You're trying to say, that the Busa NEVER SHIFTED, for both of the first passes? So he went from 60-150 in the same gear? You sure about that? I'd say in last gear @60 he would have next to no power. Want to challenge that?

Good job trying to say that when he was going to win the last one that he couldn't have. You're just like those big-headed Camaro and Trans-Am guys, unable to admit defeat, even when you have no grounds to do so. Enjoy you're stay, hahahaha..

Oh, and, you said something about him letting off when it started to lift. Er, is that the car guys fault? Him not being able to keep it on the ground is him LOSING. It's not an "oh, this isn't fair", it's a guy on a bike getting beaten because he can't keep it on the ground

And, who says the 500+rwhp bike is streetlegal? You, or the emissions/inspection officer?..

This is stupid...

bikes and cars are apples and oranges.

Of course 500 hp on 500lbs is going to be faster than 500 hp on 2800 lbs.

I've got a rocketship that will smoke any bike or car. Where do you draw the line for comparison?

A while back I had some sore loser screaming at me that he has a bike that would own every car out there. Congratulations.

I think this is more related to the fact that people were/are saying that cars are faster than bikes. It's possible, but you're not talking stock v. stock or even mod for mod.

Well, it depends. An AWD Porsche can and will easily take even modded race bikes on twisty courses, and an Atom with a more powerful engine could easily take most bikes (and has).

There are gocarts that can accelerate faster, corner better, and just plain outperform even supercars and superbikes.

As for the Busa, it's a huge bike with an even more massive motor. Add a turbo, Nitrous, and a super sticky rear tire, and it's a frickin rocket.

There is one thing that any biker can tell you, and that is that at speed, a bike is way more stable than it looks like. As the wheels and tires spin, they have a stabalizing effect on the bike, making it more difficult to suddenly topple it. A bump in the road could be fatal, though, so it's a tradeoff.

If you really want to know which performs better, cordon off a 6 mile stretch of road, line the bike and car up, pick an astronomical number, and the first to get there wins. Say, 180 mph, or the slower (vehicle with lower top speed) vehicle's top rated speed (aero or gearing). Then take them both to an AutoX track, and time some runs. I'd suggest a rally race to even things out even more, but then, you'd have one win on the straight, one win the AutoX, and one win the Rally. :p Wouldn't be fair, but then, you may just have a tie in the end anyway.

bringing reality all in one post....

I dont know why these threads keep popping up. Plain and simple: No matter how bad you think your ride is there is always someone out there more bad than u. It is just a preference on what that ride is.

The amount of misinformation in this thread is astounding.

The myth that bikes are more stable at higher speeds is just that a myth. They are never "laterally" stable.

going from 60-150 (indicated) or so on a bike in 1 gear is plausable, depending on the gear ratio. Hell, 1st gear on my k6 1k is good from 1mph to just about 100mph.

The video with the Ariel atom taking the bike around a track is a little biased... If memory serves. I'd have to watch it again.
